Faith and Community

As we marked the celebration of Pentecost last weekend, we paused to reflect on a powerful moment in our Church’s story, the day traditionally known as the birthday of the Catholic Church. It was on this sacred day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples.

Pentecost invited us to reflect on the gifts of the Spirit. These gifts are not distant or abstract; they reveal themselves as real and active in our College, they are the tools that helped us build connection, show empathy and strengthen our bonds with one another.

At this point in our school year, we find ourselves surrounded by students fully immersed in winter sports, deeply engaged in exam preparation, and stepping bravely into new spaces through Year 10 Work Experience.  In the midst of all this, we recognise how easy it is to feel stretched, tired or distracted and yet, it is precisely during these moments that the Spirit’s presence becomes most visible.

We see the Spirit at work in quiet acts of kindness and in the resilience of our students. We hear it in the words of encouragement shared between peers and staff. We feel it in the warmth of our community, even as the days grew colder. The gifts of the Spirit are not only spoken about; they are lived, in classrooms, on sports fields, during exams and in workplaces.
