An update from our Year Advisers

Year 7 - Term 2 Achievements – Celebrating Growth and Success

Term 2 has been a rewarding time for our Year 7 students, filled with growth and success across academic, sporting, creative, and social domains. Guided by our T-RED values—Thrive, Represent, Excel, and Deliver—students have made impressive progress. We can not believe they are already halfway through the year!

Academically, students have continued to Thrive, showing curiosity and persistence in their learning. Many have improved in literacy and numeracy, actively participating in class and striving for their best.

On the sporting field, Year 7s have Represented the school with pride in volleyball, soccer, and Zone Cross Country, displaying resilience and great sportsmanship.

Creatively, students have embraced opportunities to Excel, particularly through Music Club, where their enthusiasm and talent have shone.

Socially, the Big Yellow Umbrella program supported students in building empathy, communication skills, and strong friendships, fostering a positive and inclusive community.

Year 7s have continued to Deliver by maintaining positive behaviour, effort, and engagement across all areas. Their achievements were celebrated with a well-deserved Reward Day at KingPin Laser Tag, filled with fun, laughter, and team spirit.

We are proud of the way Year 7 students have embraced every opportunity this term and look forward to seeing them continue to grow.

Term 2 has been a busy and exciting time for our Year 8 students at TRED!

This term, students showed fantastic spirit and determination during both the Cross Country and Athletics Carnival. It was great to see so many students getting involved, cheering each other on, and showing true house pride. Well done to everyone who participated- you made it a fun and energetic day!

In Wellbeing, Year 8 have been diving into the "The Elements/Youth Action" program. They’ve been learning about how the brain works, what influences their decisions, and how to make positive choices both in and out of the classroom. These sessions have helped students better understand themselves and build important life skills. It has been great to see students using their new skills in the playground to support each other.

We're also looking forward to celebrating the efforts of many students with our Reward Excursion in Week 9. A big congratulations goes to the 30 Year 8 students who have achieved over 85% attendance and received more than 10 positive behaviour entries this term! These students will enjoy a fun-filled session of Bubble Soccer on the back oval as their reward. If your child received a note for this event, please make sure permission forms are returned and payment is finalised as soon as possible to confirm their spot.

As always, we remind all students to continue showing our TRED Values: Thrive, Represent, Excel, and Deliver—and to arrive at school on time, every day, every lesson. By doing so, they’ll give themselves the best chance to be part of next term’s exciting reward activity!

Keep up the great work Year 8!

On Tuesday, 8th April, 30 Year 9 students took part in a rewards excursion to celebrate their consistent attendance and positive attitude towards learning throughout Term 1.

The day kicked off with a walk to Macarthur Square, where students enjoyed a fun-filled morning of bowling and laser tag at Kingpin Macarthur Square. After the activities, they returned to school for a BBQ lunch, followed by an afternoon of games and activities.

A big congratulations to all the students who earned their place on the excursion—you’ve set a great example for your peers!

Looking ahead, the Term 2 rewards excursion will be a movie day at Event Cinemas. To be eligible, students must maintain:

  • 85% or higher attendance for the term, and
  • At least 10 positive entries.

Keep up the great work, and we look forward to seeing more students join us for the next celebration!

Year 11 students have accomplished a great deal this term, demonstrating commendable initiative, creativity, and emerging leadership across a variety of school endeavours. One of the highlights this term has been the completion of their senior jacket designs for the Class of 2026. This marks an exciting step forward in their senior journey and reflects the pride they take in their school identity.

A huge congratulations to all students who received awards at the Term 1 Formal Assembly. These achievements recognise academic effort, positive behaviour, and contributions to school life. A special thank you to Georgia for her outstanding vocal performance, which added a memorable touch to the ceremony. We also acknowledge Danilo and Ashton for their invaluable assistance in helping set up and support all formal events this term—your efforts did not go unnoticed.

It is also pleasing to note that overall attendance in Year 11 has shown a positive trend. Consistent attendance is crucial for academic success and ensures students remain connected to the learning community. We encourage all students to maintain this momentum as we move into Term 3.

We are especially looking forward to our upcoming reward excursion to Fast Lane Karting, which will celebrate those with strong attendance and positive engagement. We hope to see even more students joining us next term by demonstrating commitment to their learning and school responsibilities. Well done, Year 11 – let’s keep striving for success.

Year 12 have done some amazing things this term (as always)! After a successful Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, we have fund raised an incredible amount which will now go straight towards our formal. Our year group would like to thank everyone who contributed both their time and funds to our events as it has helped us put money towards some extra special things at the formal like a 360 photo booth!

With only 13 weeks left of school, it's getting hard for me as their Year Advisor to comes to terms with that. As each week slowly ticks by, the sadder I become. In contrast, Year 12 cannot wait for their graduation and picnic day at the end of Term 3. With university, TAFE and job plans, they are busy applying for scholarships, organising their choices and filling in copious amounts of forms to start their bright future.

I am so excited to see what Term 3 brings!
