Library Makeover
The library will now reopen to students after a two-week makeover! The aim of our makeover was to create a more user-friendly space with as many books as possible on display with their front covers facing forward. Books were previously displayed with their spines facing forward - rows and rows of spines are very unappealing to children!
New ‘browser bins’ have been installed, which allow our picture book collection to be displayed with their front covers on display. Students can now flip through our picture books, making selection easier and a more enjoyable experience.
Our non-fiction collection now has a row of new display shelves and new acrylic boxes to display some of our most popular subjects such as dinosaurs and sport. Our colour scheme has been modernised to charcoal, oak and birch white, with new seating in accent fabrics designed by Indigenous artist Peter Fowler. All signage has been updated, allowing students to navigate the library space independently, and we have lots of new acrylic display shelves that draw attention to any new books.
This makeover was not possible without the help of a team of enthusiastic parent volunteers, a huge thank you to Jodie, Sandra, Zoe, Dilek, Edith, Niki and Canan.
Premiers' Reading Challenge
As the reading challenge enters its final weeks, please make sure all completed books are entered onto your child’s online reading log via the PRC website. The official closing date is 5th September but please be advised that I require all books to be entered no later than 31st August. As coordinator, I will need a week to verify all books and complete numerous administration tasks before I send the final report.
Book Week
Children’s Book Week is now in its 80th year! This year's celebration will run from Saturday 16th to Saturday 23rd August, and the theme for 2025 is Book an Adventure. At ENPS students will celebrate Book Week with classroom activities.
Dress-Up Day Friday 22nd August
As part of our Book Week celebrations, all students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character on Friday 22nd August. Please encourage children to make a costume using items found at home or to create their own using paint and cardboard - please don’t rush out and spend lots of money on a pre-made costume!
Please note Dress-up Day is optional; if children do not wish to dress up, they must attend school in their school uniform.
