STEAM Superstars: Engineering Balloon-Powered Fun!
In STEAM, our students have been exploring the principles of design and motion by building incredible balloon-powered cars! They've been using a variety of materials, including water bottles, lids, bamboo skewers, straws, balloons, rubber bands, and tape, to bring their ideas to life.
This hands-on project has allowed them to learn about force, aerodynamics, and problem-solving in a really fun way. After all their hard work constructing their cars, they had the chance totest them in a thrilling race. It was fantastic to see their creations in action and celebrate their successful engineering!
Writing
In Writing, our students have become poets! We've kicked off a new unit where they're diving deep into the world of poetry. They're learning about unique styles like the cinquain, free verse, fixed verse, the descriptive colour poem, and the traditional haiku. It's been a joy to watch them explore the different elements of poetry and express their creativity. They're having a blast discovering new ways to use words and sharing their wonderful ideas!
Mathematics
The last couple of weeks in Maths have been all about multiplication and patterns. Our students have been busy learning different multiplication rules and diving into important maths language. They've been super engaged with our fun maths warm-ups and multiplication games.
These photos show our students mastering the "Salute!" card game. In this game, three players work together: two players each hold a card to their forehead without looking, facing each other, while the third player (the dealer) calls out the multiplication answer for the two hidden cards. The challenge? The first player to figure out their own card wins! It's a fantastic way to practice finding missing numbers (a bit like algebra!) and put those multiplication facts to the test. What a fun way to learn!
