Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

Abigel

This award goes to Abigel for your incredible motivation that shines through in everything you do! You always try your very best and a little bit more across all your learning areas. It's wonderful to see the huge growth you're making in your writing, confidently using high-frequency words and sounding out new ones. Beyond your hard work, you're also such a kind and thoughtful friend to everyone. Keep up the amazing effort, Abigel!

You have shown a resilient attitude towards your learning every day. You bravely take on challenges with a positive mindset and a fantastic willingness to give things a go, even when they feel difficult at first! You fill others’ buckets with your kind words and gentle hands. You are a special and important part of our Prep learning community.

For being a reflective learner in writing last week. Baani has shown thoughtful reflection in her writing by revisiting and improving her work using the checklist. She effectively used the opener template to strengthen her sentence structure and bring greater clarity to her ideas. She engaged the reader with exciting adjectives and verbs from the word wall. Her reflective approach is supporting her growth as a confident and capable writer.

For showing a resilient attitude towards your learning every day.

You approach challenges with a positive mindset and a fantastic willingness to give things a go even if it might be hard at first. Marlene and I have been so impressed with your perseverance, especially in writing this term. You are working so hard to complete tasks and are thoughtfully applying feedback to reach your goals. We are so proud of your effort and growth, and you should feel proud of yourself too. Keep shining, Zoe  – you are a star!

For being a motivated learner. You always stay focused and dedicated to improving your work, especially when creating a thoughtful and interesting problem in your narrative this week. Not only that, you are a kind and caring classmate who always checks to make sure the people around you are okay. Your gentle heart and hardworking attitude make our classroom a better place. For being a creative learner particularly during our reconciliation week incursion. Your boomerang design was so thoughtful, you retold the story of your families hike in the mountains through aboriginal symbols. I was so impressed with your insights! Well done Ezra you are a star!

For showing incredible resilience and patience when faced with a new mathematical concept that was initially challenging. Rishon approached the challenge with curiosity and an open mind. His willingness to learn a new strategy for addition and subtraction was impressive! A great role model to others Rishon! Well done!

For being a motivated learner who approaches every learning opportunity with focus and enthusiasm. You actively engage in whole class discussions and consistently share your insights. During independent tasks, you seek support when needed, demonstrating your commitment to your learning. You set an excellent example of how to be an engaged learner. Fantastic efforts, Axel!

For being a motivated learner. Your enthusiasm during church music while playing the drums was an inspiration to all. Your smile and joy when leading your peers while singing showed your active participation throughout the class. Keep up your love for music, Missi.

For being a motivated learner.  You drive your own learning and are really efficient at completing tasks, and not wasting time.  You have a great work ethic and are also one of the fastest typers we have ever seen in our class! She engaged respectfully and kindly with her group members, contributing ideas and supporting others to create interesting products and advertising for their business. Her positive approach helped the group work effectively together

This student has demonstrated collaboration and a willingness to assist fellow students. When asked by the teacher and unprompted he stepped up to explain  math concepts in a knowledgeable and patient manner to fellow students. Well done, Krystine for being a resilient learner. It's wonderful to see you settle in more each day, confidently sharing your ideas and embracing new experiences like making soup and fruit salad in Inquiry. I am so proud of your courage and how you continually do your best and a little bit more. Keep being brave – you're doing amazing!

For being a curious learner who asks questions and explores new ideas with enthusiasm.  You show  a keen interest in discovering how things work in the world around us. You are  taking  learning risks and having a go even when you are not sure that your answer is correct.  Well done,  mistakes are an important part of learning. Your curious mind helps make our classroom an exciting place to learn!

This student has demonstrated the skill of being a reflective learner in her writing last week. She regularly read back her work to identify areas for improvement. During our procedure text unit, she effectively used this strategy to up-level her writing by incorporating time connectives, imperative verbs, and adverbs. Her ability to thoughtfully revise and refine her work shows a growing awareness of how to engage the reader and clearly communicate instructions.

For your motivation to learn and ability to set a positive example for your peers in 1O. I am so impressed by your responsiveness when you hear our classroom attention signals. You are consistently one of the first to stop and show whole body listening.  It has also been wonderful to see you frequently raise your hand to contribute your ideas and ask questions in our class discussions this term.  Well done, Suveer. You should be proud of the growth you are making each day!

For being a motivated learner. You demonstrated excellent motivation during your learning. You sat on the carpet respectfully, listened carefully, and waited your turn to speak without shouting out. You stayed focussed and ready to learn, showing that you were really trying your best. You should be proud of yourself—you kept going with a great attitude. Well done Wajid.

For being a reflective learner these last couple of weeks. You have learned from your mistakes and grown from them. You are communicating your wants and needs and are focussed on being a responsible learner inside and outside of the classroom. Keep it Chhaz , we are so proud of you. Well done!

For being an ongoing, motivated learner. Ramie is a positive, always happy student who is a wonderful role model for others. 

Her determination when she is presented with a challenge academically or socially is impressive. Ramie has grown in confidence and maturity this semester.

She is always engaged in her learning and has shown perseverance when learning her times tables. Keep it up Ramie!

For being a reflective learner in Maths this week.

You were focused and motivated during our subtraction lessons, especially when working with regrouping. You then took your learning beyond the classroom, using your strategies to solve more complex problems at home. I love hearing the thoughtful connections you make when reflecting on your learning. Your drive to deepen your understanding is impressive Izzy!. Keep leading your learning!

For showing resilience during Maths lessons! Your determination and persistence were especially clear when learning to subtract with regrouping. You listened carefully to feedback, stayed focused, and completed your tasks independently. Your growth mindset and positive attitude towards challenges are truly inspiring. He worked respectfully and productively with his group to design creative advertisements, helped bake delicious cupcakes, and confidently contributed to selling their products to the school community.
