As Term 2 draws to a close, it’s been wonderful to see students across the school developing their understanding of History in meaningful and engaging ways. From investigating how daily life has changed over time to exploring significant global events and Australia’s national identity, our students have made thoughtful connections between the past and the present. Through hands-on experiences, rich discussions, and personal reflections, they’ve developed a deeper appreciation of how history shapes our world today. We look forward to continuing this curiosity and critical thinking next Semester as we shift our focus to Geography.

K/1
Amazing to see K/1 connecting with history by discussing how toys and appliances have transformed from past to present. They enjoyed watching videos and sharing opinions on how things are made differently now, compared to the past. We talked about how toys have changed and even designed our own. They must be experts on modern gadgets now!

Year 1
In Year 1 we have been stepping back in time to compare daily life in the past with life today. We've explored how toys and games have evolved, even playing some traditional games ourselves. Students have also investigated how families lived differently in the past, examining changes in areas like food, technology and travel. These engaging activities have helped us understand how times have changed and why learning about the past is important.

Year 2
This past fortnight, our Year 2 students have been immersed in fascinating historical investigations! We've been comparing and contrasting daily life from the past with our lives today, focusing on how things have changed for their parents and grandparents. To do this, we explored a variety of sources, sparking lively discussions about everything from old toys to family routines. The children then worked together to create thoughtful questions to ask a family member at home. They were so excited to conduct these interviews and then share the wonderful stories and insights they gathered with the class. It's been a fantastic way for them to connect with history right in their own homes!

Year 3 & 4
This term, Stage 2 students have embarked on an exciting journey exploring celebrations and commemorations from around the world. We delved into international days of celebration and commemoration, highlighting their importance in raising awareness and fostering global unity. Students investigated various United Nations-organized international days, researching their origins and significance. They then presented their findings, showcasing their understanding of how these days impact the world. Check out their beautiful posters!

Stage 3
Stage 3 have now concluded their fascinating Semester unit on Australia as a Nation: where we explored the events leading up to Federation and how Australian society changed through the twentieth century, including the struggles for rights and freedoms. The students were shocked to learn that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were not allowed to vote until long after other Australian citizens, including women. We have also looked at the contributions that individuals have made to the development of Australian society and have certainly learnt a lot!
Well done on a wonderful Semester of learning Stage 3.
