Try a VET Day

Last Thursday, the NCTTC ran its annual ‘Try a VET Day’. The purpose of the day is to give students the opportunity to learn about the VET studies on offer at the NCTTC, so they can make informed choices regarding their subject selections and future pathways.

Around 130 students and accompanying staff from Boort, Charlton, Donald, East Loddon, Pyramid Hill, Sea Lake, St. Arnaud, Wedderburn and Wycheproof attended.

The first part of the day gave students the opportunity to listen to a range of guest speakers from different industries. Thank you to the NCLLEN, specifically Julie Bourke, for organising Sigrid Lee, Remi Jeffery, Rebecca Cossar, Emily Wright, Bruce Hando and Conrad Sugden to speak about their respective industries and pathways. Their willingness to share what they have learnt along the way about school and life in general was greatly appreciated.

Students then participated in three different VET sessions, which gave them insight into the requirements, content and expectations for the 11 subjects we have on offer.

Lunch was left in the capable hands of the Charlton Lions Club who cooked our BBQ, which was very well received by staff and students alike!

The overall feedback from supervising staff from our cluster schools, as well as the students, was very positive.

We would like to thank the NCLLEN for their continued support of this important day and the TTC staff who ran a range of interesting and engaging sessions for the students in attendance.

Our next step is to give the students time to consider their choices for 2026 and obtain course counselling before making important subject selections.
