Class 1/2 - All About Snakes
We have been learning about nonfiction texts and how to write an information text. A few weeks ago Jarrod, our local snake catcher and snake expert, came into Prep-2 to tell us all about snakes in this area. We asked him lots of questions and got to touch a Children's Python.
We used the information Jarrod gave us to plan and write an information report on snakes. We mainly focused on the snakes in our local area. We have worked hard to create our own mini books on snakes, and we would love to share some facts we learnt along the way.
"Australia has more species of venomous snakes than any other country" Drift
"Snakes are interesting reptiles and good climbers. Snakes have scales made of ventral" Banjo
"Snakes have forked tongue to smell the air around the snake to sense food" Finn
"Snakes also have ears, their ears can't hear" Amy
"Fangs of snakes are 8-9mm long. The thickness of a snake is 10 or 12cm. Snake scales feel like our fingernails" Matilda
Thank you for listening, and if you would like a closer look at our books or our snake habitat dioramas, please come to our classroom.
