From the Principal

We wish all our fathers, grandfathers and special people a Happy Father’s Day.  We hope you all have a wonderful day with family and friends celebrating all the great things that fathers bring to the lives of our children.  We say thank you to our SFS fathers for all the support, care and love they give to their family.

FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST

It was great to see so many fathers and special people attend the Father’s Day Breakfast prepared by the Parents and Friends Association.  The fathers enjoyed a delicious bacon and egg roll, coffee and a chat with other fathers. What a great way to start the morning before heading to work!

Thank you to the P&F members who also organised the Father’s Day stall and raffle.  There is always a lot of organisation before any event, but we hope all our fathers liked and appreciated the gift especially selected just for you by you child/children.

OUR SHINING STAR

We are so proud of Andi who once again qualified for National Cross Country this year which was held in Canberra. On Saturday, she competed in the 11 year old girls race which was 3km and managed to achieve 2nd place - only seconds behind the 1st runner!!! Last year she came 11th. What an improvement which just demonstrates Andi’s determination and persistence in training to achieve her goals.

The 11 year old girls Vic Squad, which included Andi, all did extremely well and as a result came 1st against all the other States for Cross Country.

On Monday, Andi was then chosen to be part of the Victorian 11 year old girls relay team, along with 4 other girls. Unlike other relay events, each runner had to run 1500m. Once again Team Vic came 1st!

We celebrated Andi's achievements and return to school on Wednesday. Andi wore her Vic Team uniform and brought in her medals. She visited each Learning Space and spoke about her experience. It was interesting to hear just how much training Andi does.

We are so proud of Andi. Not just for her results, but for her effort, determination and perseverance to set herself a goal and then work hard towards achieving it. She is a fantastic role model for others who hope to one day achieve success in any sporting event. The Star Newspaper also visited the school on Wednesday to speak with Andi about her experience and achievements. This article will be published in the Star in the near future.
