THS Middle Years

Term 3

The second semester has gotten off to a busy start for our Year 9 and 10 students in middle school. Students have been busy thinking about their futures as we recognise all the great achievements of students from Semester 1 with our Mid Year Awards. Some of the highlights have been listed below in what has been a busy schedule.

Year 9 and 10 Assemblies and Information Sessions

In line with the upcoming events around subject selection and course counselling, we used this as an opportunity to speak with senior students about their decisions and how it has had an impact on their education. Our Year 11’s spoke to the Year 10 students around the subjects they chose and how this has set them up for their careers.

We want to thank Sophie Grant, Christina Kapetanea and Alex Crawford for their contributions at our assembly which kick started the information session. Thanks to Christian Tirabassi, Amelie Rodda, Ruby Richmond and Damian Morales who helped guide and start the discussion with our Year 9’s about opportunities at Year 10. We would also like to recognise the efforts of Jedah Lee Wickey and Shi Bamblett who performed an amazing cultural dance to kick off our assemblies for both Year 9 and 10.

Congratulations to Angela Vu and Abiel Molefe who won our awards for these assemblies as they were drawn randomly from a group of students who have contributed positively to giving feedback to others.

Year 9 and 10 Mid Year Awards

It was great to start the Semester off on a high with our mid year awards, recognising all the achievements of our students from Semester 1. The awards were well attended as families gathered and the students were recognised for their efforts and application in all subjects. In Year 9, students were presented awards for their consistent efforts and application through our academic endeavour awards, these were presented to those with the most outstanding work habits across semester 1. Following this we presented the academic achievement awards for those who had the highest average marks across all subjects. Special mention to Pavlos Mouratidis and Otis Handsaker who received specialised awards for their efforts and application in line with the PROSPER framework at the school.

Our Year 10’s who received academic endeavour and subject awards were in front of a full auditorium of Year 10 and 11 parents and peers. Special mention to Evie Mameghan, Evia Burrell and Jim Bridgewater for receiving our PROSPER awards at this event. Also a big shout out to Maddy Vandemboom who received an outstanding 4 subjects awards.

Congratulations to all students for being fantastic role models for our younger students and showing what it takes to be recognised at these events.

Futures Expo

We had a packed house for our Year 9 and 10, 2024 information sessions with over 250 people filling up the auditorium at Expo Night. Thanks to all the families for investing in the process of subject selection and course counselling as we want everyone to make the best decisions for their future. We always look forward to guiding the students through this process to ensure they get the opportunity to pick subjects in line with their personal goals in the future.

Work Experience

Well done to all those who completed amazing work experiences, our students represented the school well and we have attached some photos of students engaging in the workplace.

We are looking forward to a great Semester 2, thanks to all the coordinators and teachers for their ongoing support of our students.
