Principals' Message
Hello Parents and friends,
Welcome to this edition of the newsletter on this first day of Spring. Term 3 only has two-weeks to go and it has been an outstanding term at TPPS thus far.
And That’s A Wrap!
There is still a buzz around the school after last Wednesday and Thursday’s Grade 5/6 production of The Wizard of Oz. The school has received plenty of positive feedback about the high quality of the show and the incredible talent of the performers. In short, it was awesome!
As you can imagine, planning and organising a performance to take place in front of 500 audience members that involves 160 students over two different nights takes an incredible amount of work. Many, many thanks to the key players in Jo Daly, Maddie Huber, Jared Kitney, Anne Somerville, Kellie Fletcher, Nat Durnford, Neil Mitchell, Deb Pettolino, Alex Augello and Nicole Sumner. All other TPPS staff played a supporting role on the night involving make up, ticketing, backstage support, student supervision, prop transport and so on. It really was a team effort.
Finally, and most importantly, a BIG well done to all the students involved. You should all be very proud of the 2023 production that you were responsible for. It will certainly go down as one of the highlights of the year and we’re sure it will be one of the highlights of the students’ memories of their time at Templestowe Park Primary School.
New Playground
On Monday, we are due for works to commence on replacing the Grade 1/2 playground. All going well on return in Term 4, a bright and engaging playground will be ready for students to climb, swing, slide, spin, hang, sit, jump, run and play on. This image will give you an idea just how good the new playground will look when sitting on a rubber surface for added safety.
Fathers’ Day Stall
Today, many excited students had the opportunity to buy their dads a very special Fathers’ Day gift at our stall. There was a huge selection of great gifts to choose from and we know all students came away with that special little gift that their dad will love.
We would like to say a big thank you to Kirsty, Aylin & Tulay for coordinating the stall and their band of volunteer helpers who made it possible. We greatly appreciate your time and effort. All the Dads in our community appreciate it too.
We would like to wish all our Dads a very Happy Fathers’ Day for this coming Sunday.
Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey – Open until Friday 8th September
Just a reminder that the Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is open and can be accessed via Compass.
At Templestowe Park we invite all families to complete the survey
rather than the 30% that is suggested by DET. We value your feedback and your suggestions have led to many changes and initiatives within the school.
The survey is open until Friday, 8th September. Please log on to share your thoughts and offer suggestions about our school. Thank you to the many families who have already completed the survey.
Inquiry Learning – Working with Dr Jeni Wilson
On Wednesday of this week our teachers participated in workshops with Dr Jeni Wilson (Inquiry learning expert) to review the Term 3 inquiries that the students undertook and to design the new student inquiries for Term 4. Jeni has worked with our teachers throughout the year to design inquiries that will excite, engage and empower our students. The inquiry learning that has been taking place within and outside of school has been exceptional and the students have learnt so much from these enriching learning experiences. You will be able to learn more about the Term 4 inquires in the Overviews that will be published early Term 4.
Principals’ Award
At our assembly last Friday, we were extremely excited to present the Principals’ Award to Karam M in Grade 3. When Karam started at TPPS he was very restricted physically with what he could or could not do. You would not know this when interacting with Karam but things were never easy for him. With our positive education focus for the term being ‘grit’ and ‘hope’, he was the perfect choice to receive the Principals’ Award last week. What appeared on his certificate (below) explains everything.
Karam is a student who consistently follows the 5 school values. In everything that Karam undertakes, he simply tries his best and works very hard. His determination is greatly admired by all of his friends and all staff members at TPPS. Karam’s overall positive attitude is one of the major reasons he has improved so much with his learning, especially in Mathematics. We are very lucky to have Karam at Templestowe Park Primary School.
Congratulations, Karam.
We look forward to sharing the final two-weeks of Term 3 with the students and community.
Have a Happy Fathers’ Day and wonderful weekend.
