Wellbeing and Positive Education.

Mr Campbell

Merry Christmas everyone and welcome to the final wellbeing and positive education newsletter for 2023.

What a year it's been, we have experienced many highs and some lows, but the constant has been the unwavering level of care and support our staff and students have shown towards each other. As a wellbeing team we could not be more proud of our students ability to reach out for support, offer others support and put into practice the strategies they have been taught through our positive education program, teacher led activities on wellbeing and strategies passed on from our amazing wellbeing team.

This year we had 591 students attend wellbeing seeking support, whilst this figure may surprise or even be a cause of concern for some, for us it is pleasing to see that our school community has created a culture whereby it is accepted and supported for someone to seek help if they aren't quite feeling themselves or just need a chat to offload their concerns and worries. As a wellbeing team we have had the opportunity to positively impact the lives of not only the 591 students who have walked into our wellbeing centre, but over 1900 students through running our positive education program in classrooms and through whole cohort experiences.

Some of the programs and workshops we have implemented during this semester are:

The Resilience Project

Vaping Mentor Sessions: Year 8.

VCE Exam preparation workshops.

Sleep and school workshops.

Respectful Relationships' Working Group.

Health life habits: Self Care, Healthy Eating, Exercise, Sleep, Mental Health, Safe Partying, and Help seeking.

"Call, push, shock" education sessions.

Diversity Club: Minus 18 Student Leadership Workshop and Casey Council Youth.

BFF Club.

Girlosophy.

Art Therapy.

We encourage everyone to focus on their own health and wellbeing over the summer break. Find some time to focus on you and try to do something daily/weekly that will strengthen your personal wellbeing. Go for a walk, create an exercise routine, practice gratitude, be kind and look for ways to be kind to others, be engaged in life, get out of the house, be connected with people, start a new hobby, go for an adventure and connect with nature, read a book under a tree and take a break from life for 20 mins, the possibilities are endless, the best part is it really only takes 10-20 mins a day to do something for you that will have a great impact if you can find the dedication to do it regularly.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone, stay safe and we look forward to continuing to support our students and staff in 2024.
