Year 9/10

Ms Haye and Ms Fisher

This year, I have had the privilege of working with the Year 9 cohort as an Assistant Leader alongside De Weller and the Leader, Daniel Williams, also as the Year 9 Leader from Term 4 2023.

I have watched this cohort mature and develop, as the year has progressed.

They have settled into the routines and expectations of Year 9 and risen to the challenge of being the best individual they can be.

The cohort has performed well academically but they have also shown themselves to be caring and supportive of each other; respectful and responsible, in other words, living the values of Cranbourne East Secondary College.

This term, The College Arts and Technologies festival took place on 30th November. There was an amazing display of creativity on show as students performed in the theatre, made the food provided, and produced wonderful art pieces in various mediums.

For the first time in our school history, the Year 9 students undertook end of year exams in their core subjects. This allowed students to experience the process of exams and the expectations in preparation for Year 10. Students rose to the challenge and performed well in their first official exams.

To acknowledge the achievements and success of our students throughout the year, in the last week of the 2023 program, we held a celebration afternoon where we presented Year level awards and thanked the students for their contribution to a successful year. We then shared an afternoon relaxing with sports activities and games; the highlight for most students being the ice cream vans where every student could choose an ice cream of their choice.

We also have our annual End of Year Awards ceremony happening on Monday December 18th at the Frankston Art Centre which will recognise many Year 9 students for their achievements and success throughout the year.

On behalf of the Year 9 team, I would like to sincerely thank the Year 9 students and families for an enjoyable and rewarding year. We have enjoyed working with and supporting your students, and we wish them all the very best as they follow their passions into 2024 and beyond.

Teresa Hayes

Year 9 Leader

Thank you to the year 10s for a great year! We have really enjoyed working with the students this year as they navigated their way through their final year before they embark on their senior school journey. We have watched them develop into wonderful young adults who are ready to take on the next challenge of VCE, VCE VM or for those who are moving on to the workplace. We wish them all the very best for their futures and wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season and a prosperous new year.

Mrs Hannah Fisher, Mr Sam Yung and Ms Laura Sculley.

End of year exams

The year 10 students came to their second round of exams prepared and ready to go after having experienced exams mid-year. They approached them with a positive attitude and were organised and mature in their approach. We would like to congratulate them on their application, effort, achievement and growth, and hope the process has prepared them well for their future pathways.

End of year celebration day

On November 23rd we celebrated the end to a successful year with a celebration assembly, where we acknowledged the growth and achievement of the students in various aspects across the college. We were treated to two music performances from some very talented year 10 girls.

To finish the day we had a visit from the Dandee donuts truck and Melbourne ice-cream van, and spent the afternoon together enjoying some games on the oval and the COLA while eating donuts and ice-cream! It was a really enjoyable way to finish the year as a cohort before step up commenced.
