WHAT IS HAPPENING AT PPPS

Spare Clothes for School Bags

We have recently experienced several children requiring a change of clothes for either toilet issues or falling into puddles and / or mud. Can we please ask that all children, especially the ones in the younger year levels, keep a spare pair of underwear and pants in their school bag.

We only have a very limited supply of spare clothes in our first aid area, so we ask that any clothes that are borrowed, are returned washed the following day.

Library Donations

Thank you to Maya (4-30), Kai (4-24) and Ebony (6-2) for your generous book donations to our library.

School Choir and Bands – Important Information

A reminder about some important information/dates coming up this term and

early in term 4.

Concert

Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th September. The choir and school bands will be performing on both nights at the very beginning of proceedings. On the night that your child doesn’t perform with their year level, they will only be required to stay for the duration of the choir/school band performance.

Australian Girls Choir

A representative from the Australian Girls Choir will be visiting PPPS on Tuesday 10th October to run an assessment workshop with interested girls. If your child has been enjoying being a part of the school choir, this could be a great opportunity for them.

Big Night Out

Both our choir and school bands have been invited to perform at Lalor North Secondary at College for their Big Night Out event on Thursday 12th October. Our school choir performed at this event last year and it is a fantastic opportunity for the students.

Recording session

I have also booked a recording session at Lalor North for Friday October 20th for the choir and bands. More details about both this event and the Big Night Out to follow.

Please don’t hesitate to email Mr Stubberfield on thomas.stubberfield@education.vic.gov.au if you have any queries.

Year 4 Excursion to Werribee Zoo

On Thursday, Year 4 went to the Werribee open Range Zoo for an excursion as part of our geography unit. We learnt about animal adaptations and got up close to some of the amazing African animals such as the rhinoceros, ostrich, wild dogs and lions.

It was an amazing day.

Thanks very much to the parent helpers who came along on the day.

District Athletics Carnival

On Tuesday August 22, Plenty Parklands attended the District Athletics Carnival which was held at the Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium. We had a squad of 65 students represent the school across track and field events.

Our staff and students braved the cold, with intermittent showers to see most of the events completed on the day.

There were seven schools who attended and at the end of the final event, points were awarded to each school. These scores were calculated to see who the Premiers were on the day.

Plenty Parklands were awarded the Premiers Pennant as achieving the most points across the seven schools involved.

We are so proud of our students and their achievements, with many also achieving Personal Bests. A huge thank you to Mrs Campbell, Mrs Baines, Miss Janevski and Jaxon (our placement student from Parade College) who helped make the day a success.

Parking and Traffic Management

Kelynack Reserve

Please be advised that there will be maintenance and landscaping works scheduled to commence on Monday 4th September and will last approximately 7 weeks at Kelynack Reserve. (Park and oval directly across from the school)

During this time there will be increased vehicle movement through the neighbouring streets and carpark adjoining the kinder, as the access point to the reserve is through the carpark.

Traffic management controls will be in place with an escort to minimise disruption to carpark users.

National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence.

Last week the Year 2 students showed their support for the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. This year’s theme is ‘Growing Connections’.

Year 2 students reflected on their existing connections and considered new connections they could make in our school community and beyond to help prevent bullying.
