Book Week Dress Up Day

Wednesday was an exciting day for all students and staff (and lots of parents) as we celebrated book week with our dress up parades. So many great costumes, and so many parent visitors watching made it a memorable morning. Those of you in attendance would have noticed that our staff did a great job supporting the event by dressing up and that we continued to promote student leadership by having two year six students successfully hosting both parades. A special thank you goes to you all, for the work you put in to organising the outstanding costumes for your children!

Social Media

We are experiencing a rise in complaints around social media issues that students are having at home. Please note that whilst we are responsible for student behaviour at school, circumstances that occur at home fall under the responsibility of you as parents. For severe issues relating to inappropriate use of social media, police assistance may be required. Although it may not make you popular at home, restricting your child from using apps such as Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok may be necessary until they are mature enough (many recommend the age of 13) to safely navigate such networking.

New Play Ideas for Break Times

Thank you to the student leaders who have been assisting me with ideas to make our school grounds even more enticing for our students at recess and lunch times. After collating the thoughts of a range of children we have big plans for construction over the next six months. Proposed works include the addition of outdoor table tennis tables, a new surface for our volleyball courts and a new Ga Ga Pit (please google to find out more about this one this one). We are also closing in on final designs for a new slide that Ms Nixon is frantically working on.

Parent Survey

Please note that the parent survey that was circulated randomly selected families, is due to be completed by Friday the 8th of September. If you were selected, you would have received an email last week. Feedback is always appreciated, however with this being a school review year at Plenty Parklands, we will also rely on your ideas for future strategic planning later this year.

Congratulations to our PPPS athletes

On Tuesday, our Athletics team represented Plenty Parklands at the Bundoora District Athletics Day. I was delighted to hear that our students participated with enthusiasm, displaying our school values of respect, care and a fair go for all. Of secondary importance, but also worth celebrating was the fact that PPPS was the overall winner amongst the seven schools participating on the day. A number of students now go on to represent the school at the next level and we wish them all the best.

Upcoming School Concert

We hold our concert every second year and the whole school is enjoying rehearsals at the moment. One difficult aspect of running a concert is ticket allocation. Please be patient and respectful when engaging in the ticketing process. We are trying our best, and we are doing in for your children.
