2024 Planning

If your family are planning a move to a new school for 2024, early notification greatly assists our forward planning. Please contact the school office to inform us of your plans.

Junior Deck is Open

Our refurbished deck and Birdwood Street entrance is officially open and being enjoyed by our students! We are exceptionally pleased with the final result, being a warm, welcoming space that is a wonderful upgrade on what was there previously. Feedback from students, families and staff has been overwhelmingly positive.

As the plant-life grows in the coming years, we look forward to this space continuing to develop and flourish, adding much needed greenery to this area of the school!

On a related note, going forward, the new gate is going to be locked during school hours as an added security measure for this area of the school.

Thanks again to our whole community for your patience during construction of our upgraded deck space!

Heating & Cooling

I am please to report further progress as we work towards restoration of permanent heating and cooling in the building along Devon Street. This week, Steve Roche and I met with the company who have been appointed to manage this project. Coincidentally, they are the same company that managed the deck refurbishment, so we have confidence that they will achieve a satisfactory solution for us.

This project will shortly go to tender, with the firm hope being that all work will have been completed by the end of 2023. Again, our thanks to staff and students for their patience while we have been attempting to find a resolution for the degradation of heating and cooling in these classrooms.

Book Parade Monday

A reminder that our annual book parade is on this Monday - always a highlight of our Term 3 calendar! Parents, carers and interested onlookers are welcome to join us for the book parade in the gym from 9am. Looking forward to lots of colourful characters and creative costumes, especially from staff!

We're also looking forward to the 'Books to Life' performance as another special Book Week event. Check Compass for more information about both of these events!

Disco Fever!

Thanks in advance to our team of PFA volunteers who are working hard at this very moment to ensure an exciting and memorable evening for our students at the F-2 and 3-6 disco sessions tonight! Lots of work goes into these events and we're looking forward to a great night.

If your child is attending, volunteers and staff would very much appreciate your having a chat with them about expected behaviour. Students behaved very well last year and made our job very easy - looking forward to more of the same. Mr Roche and I will be supervising both the F-2 and 3-6 disco, along with some hardy staff volunteers. Many thanks also to these staff for giving up their Friday evening to assist!

Financial Assistance

We are well aware that many in our community are currently experiencing significant financial hardship at present. In keeping with our strong commitment to inclusion at Roberts McCubbin Primary School, if your family is finding payment for a school event to be prohibitive, please contact myself or Business Manager Melissa for a confidential discussion of options.
