A Message from

Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present, and emerging.

Unit AH

We are very excited to announce that Tom Dartnell (a very familiar BNW face!) will be re-joining us next week as the teacher of unit AH. Tom will continue to teach unit AH all the way through to the end of the year. We are so excited that Tom has made the decision to return to us, and we know that Unit AH will be in very good hands.

Student Devices

We have recently had a few instances where students have used their smart watch to contact home during school time, which is against the Department of Education policy on students’ use of mobile devices.

To help promote a safe and secure schooling experience, all students with mobile phones must hand them to the office each day for secure storage. Smart watches (even those with limited telephone/messaging capacity) are part of this policy and messaging/telephone service must be disabled during school hours - including recess and lunch.

If students are unable to deactivate the phone service to their smart watch or other device, it must be kept in secure storage at the office. Keir and Hannah can make individual exemptions in some situations (see policy below).

If students need to contact home during school hours, they can speak to their teacher or our team in the front office.

Our Mobile Phone Policy has been attached below, for your reference.

Tram Works

Did anyone else get caught out this morning? Despite mentioning the tram works in the last few newsletters, it caught us off guard! Please remember that the tram work will occur over two periods in the coming months. The first stage will take place from now until Monday 28 August. Melville Rd will be closed between Albion and Fitzgibbon Streets. The second stage will take place between Friday 8 September to Monday 18 September 2023; Melville Rd will be closed between Braemar and Cummings Sts during this period.

40 Years Service

We would like to take a moment to celebrate Brenda, our local crossing attendant on Melville Rd, who has worked in this role for 40 years! Brenda showed great dedication to our students and our community; helping our families safely cross the road and having a laugh with us as well. Thank you to Brenda! We hope you are enjoying your well earned retirement.
