Linda's Letters

Family Support Coordinator

Hi Everyone, how are you? I hope you are well and you will be able to enjoy a slower pace over the school holidays over the next two weeks. Yes the end of term 3 is already here, we finish up today and we will  return to school on Monday 2nd October 2023.

Bank Accounts—Does your child have their own bank account? Getting a bank account for a child with a disability can be tricky, especially if they are not able to sign or write their name or part of their name. It is easier if the child is younger than 14 years of age. The reason I ask is, once your child is 16 years of age, they are eligible to apply for the Disability Support Pension and the   Pensioner Education Supplement from Centrelink. So they will need a bank  account for the money to be deposited in and this is best if it is in their name. If you would like to discuss this, please speak with your bank, or give me a call and I will tell you more. Take Care, Linda
