Book Week - Next Week!

This year the theme for Book Week is 'Read Grow Inspire'.

Visit to Richmond Library

On Monday our Year Prep - 2 students visited Richmond Library as part of our Book Week celebrations. CARP Productions presented a show which took the children on a magical journey related to the Book Week books. Many thanks to Kipp Pascal at Richmond Library for inviting us to this event!

Scholastic Book Fair

Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the library from Friday 18th August to Wednesday 23rd August. Please see Ms Barbara Shaw for more details. A few pics from last year's Scholastic Book Fair...

Dress Up Day and Parade

Our Dress Up Day and Parade will be held next week on Wednesday 23rd August.

The theme for this year's Dress Up Day is 'Read Inspire Grow'. Students may like to dress up as something related to the theme or come dressed as their favourite book character. Our Book Week Parade will be held at 9am and will be hosted by Mr David Gahan and Ms Sandra Stanton. A few ideas from last year's parade...

Meerkat Productions

Meerkat Productions will be at Trinity to perform an adaptation of one of Book Week's shortlisted books 'Frank's Red Hat' by Sean E Avery at 2:15pm in the MPR (Children will be invited to bring their own, or make, a red hat/cap/beanie to wear for this performance - teachers will support with this at school too)

School Assembly

On Friday 25th August afternoon, at our usual school assembly, we will have a special Book Week presentation where we will share our learning from across the week. We look forward to families joining us a little earlier at 2:30pm on this day.

Other activities and events across Book Week:

  • Voting in the library for students' favourite shortlisted book
  • Surprise Reader
  • Literature study and art activities related to the shortlisted books across the week.

Art Show: Artist Nicholas Tsekouras at Trinity

Over the next few weeks we are especially fortunate to have visual artist Nicholas Tsekouras working with Ms Anna Plackett in the art room and leading our students through some collage work in prepartion for our Art Show.

Nicky is a well known local artist who has been recognised for his work and contribution to Yarra Community, being awarded the 'City of Yarra Young Citizen of the Year' award. He attended Xavier College as a student and now works at Yarra Youth Services as their Artist in Residence. He has most recently worked with the Art Teacher at Sacred Heart Primary School in Kew, and is busy with his own personal art works and exhibitions as well. We warmly welcome Nicky to our community and look foward to the work he will create with our students.

The Huddle- Year 5/6 Excursion

Our 5/6 students have the exciting opportunity to attend 'Game Day' at 'The Huddle' at North Melbourne Football Club. This week 5/6FA attended with Ms Kate Foley and Mr Frank Anania as part of our Science Week events. Next week our students from 5/6BOC will be participating. Game Day leverages the power of sport to strengthen STEM skills and aims to increase engagement among all learners, while improving student confidence. The lessons that our children will participate in have been designed in association with the Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV), The Huddle and Melbourne City Football Club. Special thanks to Kate Foley for organising this for our students.

Staying in touch...

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning, please do not hesitate to make contact with your child's teacher. You are also welcome to come and see me about any aspect of learning at Trinity.
