Celebrating Learning and Community at Warrnambool Primary School

Lone Pine's Tale of Resilience and Sacrifice

The halls of Warrnambool Primary School resonated with a powerful tale of resilience and sacrifice as Vietnam War Veteran Ken Cumming captivated Year 5 and 6 students with the significance and symbolism of the Lone Pine in the Warrnambool Botanical Gardens. With heartfelt stories, Ken shared lessons of gratitude and sacrifice that left a mark on our students. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ken for his enlightening education and inspiring stories. The sense of connection reached its peak as students shared lunch, embodying the spirit of togetherness.

Unveiling the Wonders of Ancient Greece Through Art

Ancient Greece came to life within the creative minds of our Year 6 students this week. Armed with charcoal and guided by the skilled hands of Ross and Mr Bail, these budding artists crafted breathtaking works that transported us to the cradle of civilisation. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Ross and Mr Bail for their unwavering dedication in fostering creativity and igniting a passion for history in our students.

Nurturing Character Strengths through Positive Education

Wednesday afternoons have become a haven of positivity and growth for our Year 6 students. The corridors of Warrnambool Primary School echo with the sounds of gratitude, resilience, and connection as students immerse themselves in specialist Positive Education Lessons. The creation of the Shoutout Wall stands as a testament to the strength of their character, with weekly tributes highlighting the best in each other. Acts of kindness ripple through the week, weaving a tapestry of compassion that enriches our school community.

Igniting Change and Empowerment

In the spirit of igniting change, Mr Fraser's class has embarked on a journey of social transformation. Armed with research questions and determination, students have ventured into the heart of our city and school to effect positive change. From volunteering at the Salvation Army Thrift Shop to understanding our welfare system, our students have embraced their role as agents of transformation.

As their ideas blossom, Shakirah and Chloe prepare to collaborate with Warrnambool City Council to establish an indigenous or cultural garden and play space, revolutionizing our beloved Botanical Gardens. Another visionary student, Jagger, stands poised to enhance the wellbeing of our community's children through sports, with his innovative ideas capturing the attention of the City Council.

In a digital realm, Noah's interviews with AFL footballers have become a source of inspiration, encouraging children to seek motivation from within. The tapestry of change continues to weave through Warrnambool Primary School, reflecting our commitment to nurturing engaged citizens and change-makers.

As we celebrate these remarkable stories of learning, growth, and community, we look forward to the countless more tales that will undoubtedly emerge from the corridors of Warrnambool Primary School. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to nurture the hearts and minds of our students.

Run Run Run with Mr Pattison

Over the past two months, the students in Year 6A have been undertaking a running program. At the start only a few students could run a lap without stopping (Asher Dawe was the exception).

With encouragement, mateship, persistence, resilience and edurance, the children have done exceptionally well. Each morning the students have been keen to achieve a personal best. As of last Wednesday 16th August each student has achived the following:

10 laps

Tyler, Levi, Greta, Brianna, Meika, Maria and Willow

15 laps

Sara, Amalee, Freya, Kelly and Lilly

20 laps

Asher

All students are congratulated on their efforts and for their persistence in continuing to strive for a better result.
