Celebration of

Prep Funky Farm Excursion

We met a mum and dad wombat couple and even had the chance to scratch the hard plate on their back which protects them from predators.

A one year old Red tailed cockatoo so well trained. We also

Practiced our left and right because right arm  had to be tucked and left at a 90 degree angle. How much do we love the integration of maths into absolutely everything in our lives?

Wow we got to Pat an emu!! How unique is that considering how fast they can run???

Everyone was able to get up close… even the teachers!

Hands on experiences are priceless!

Grade 2 Briars Day Camp

The Briars Day Camp - Tom 2MD

One Friday we went to the Briars. I was so excited to get there. When we got there they introduced themselves. After we played games. We played ship, shark, shore and memory tag. Then we had morning tea. For morning tea we had choc chip muffins and cordial. I did not have anything.

After we had our first activity. I did hut building first. I worked with Hunter and Zaiden. We tried to get all the big sticks. When we finished, we (Zaiden and Hunter) got the strongest award!!!

We also had lunch. For lunch we had DELICIOUS sausages in bread.

After we did our second activity. We did damper, yay! First we had to wrap the dough around a stick, a big long stick. But it’s hard! Once, Zaiden’s caught on fire!!! When we finished I ate mine. It was yummy!

After we had afternoon tea. I had cordial. Next we had our last activity. We did low ropes course. First we put on helmets. Then I was the course person first. It was really hard! Next was Zaiden, he fell a lot! So did I. Next was Hunter, he was clumsy, but everyone is!!! After we went back to the courtyard. We said thank you. Then the bus took us home.

The Briars Day Camp - Alex 2MD

On Friday I had to go quickly because I didn't want to miss the bus! Luckily I got on the bus. I sat next to Theo, one of my friends. The bus was boring but I promise you it is worth it! When we got there we went to the courtyard, we met the people who would be running the groups. I got group 3. By the way there are 3 groups! The first activity was low ropes course which was hard for me, but maybe you're good at it? After that, we went to the GaGa pit. I was first to get hit. We went back to the courtyard where we had morning tea which was delicious puffy choc chip muffins and a glass of cordial. Then for the second activity we did hut building. Me and Cody, another friend, made a hut with so much shade it goes down by 10 degrees! We called it Drip Mansion. Then we had a tour through the huts. Then we went back to the courtyard for afternoon tea. We had fruit. Then we did the final activity which was damper making. I cooked my damper until half was golden brown and the other was burnt. I didn't care if the inside was raw! I ate it and then did some parkour on the pile of logs. When it was time to go we went back to the courtyard. Then we said our goodbyes and went to the bus. The bus was the same but when we got to school it was nearly home time so we packed up and waited for the bell and we went home.

The Briars Day Camp - Ashton 2W

Have you ever played Gaga ball? Well I have! To play you need to go to the Grade 2 camp! It all started with a 15-20 minute bus ride. I sat next to Carter and we made up songs. When we got there we played Ship, Shark, Shore and Statues. But I liked Ship, Shark, Shore the best. Then we got hungry so the guides gave us a muffin, an apple and cordial. Munch! Munch! Munch! “Mmm yum” I said. We got split into three groups. I was split into group number one. First we did the climbing. Then they sang happy birthday to me. Secondly, I did hut building. I had to choose 2 partners. I chose Jacob and Losi. I loved my hut, but I had to wreck it for the next group. Last of all we cooked damper. I liked it best with honey. I had a sausage for lunch. I had 2. They were really good! We went back to school and it was the end of the day.

The Briars Day Camp - Hugh 2W

Hello, my name is Hugh and I am a Grade Two. In Grade Two you get to go on a day camp excursion to the Briars. It all starts with a short and fun bus trip. When we got there me and my class met two guides. Next we had to split up and my group was pumped because we were going to build stick huts! We had to be in little groups to build huts. I had Eli and Zoe, we were a great team! After that we went to have morning tea. You could have an apple, cordial and a chocolate chip muffin. But I only had cordial. Then after we went and did damper over the fire. After that we had lunch. Lunch was sausages, yum, yum, yum! After lunch we did the low ropes course quickly and then we had a bit of time so we played Gaga ball. The end.

Briars Day Camp - Billie 2W

I know for sure that you’re going to have an amazing time at Grade 2 day camp, and here’s why.. First we got on the bus. We had to pick sensible partners. I chose Evie. On the way Evie and I played rock, paper, scissors and we also played thumb war. When we arrived we were taken to the courtyard. We had a little chat before we went to the oval. One of the guides got all of our attention so we could start to play some games. The first game we played was statues. I can’t tell you how to play because it’s a surprise, but trust me, it’s fun! We also played Ship Shark Shore. When we finished playing the games we were extremely hungry, then we couldn’t wait. We rushed back to the court yard to get some morning tea. After we ate our morning tea we split into groups. My group did the ropes course first. We put on helmets for safety. Next we went down to the Gage pit. I didn’t win the game but it was still fun! After that we went to the huts for hut building. I built an awesome hut. Later when we had finished hut building we had lunch. It was delicious! Meanwhile Amelie (my guide) was getting ready for damper cooking which was my next rotation. I love damper, it was so fun cooking it! When I finished cooking my damper I put jam on it. Then it was time to go. We hopped back on the bus and went back to school. I loved the Briars and you will too!
