Opera Queensland

On Monday our students in Years 2 to 6 had the opportunity to attend a performance of 'FIZZ' by Opera Queensland. Based on the comic opera The Elixer of Love by Donizetti, and reimagined for young audiences, it was wonderful for our students to experience this unique musical style. They also had the opportunity to ask questions of the artists at the end of the performance.

Our professional partnership and sponsorship with Opera Queensland has provided our students with opportunities to engage in choral workshops and performances and we are looking forward to working with them again in Term 4 as they work with our students involved in the musical.

Father’s Day Performances

There was plenty of artistic variety on offer at our Father’s Day Breakfast, with performances by Chloe Noon (Year 11) on Guitar and Vocals, the Junior String Quartet (Years 5 and 6), Avanti (Years 7 to 12) and the Dance Troupe (Years 7 and 8). A perfect display of our cultural offerings as well as great entertainment for all our special guests!

Visual Art

Visual Artist, Claudia Williams came in to work with Year 5 students on Monday 28 August in an imaginative workshop.

Claudia Williams is a Creative Thinker, Artist and Educator where she has over 20 years' experience as a mixed media artist. Claudia has designed and created artworks for private commission, public areas and school-based projects, designed for communities and schools around Australia.

In the workshop, students created a character using recycled materials. Students brought in their own recyclables to guide their application of features. It was an exciting, creative day!

Drama

Year 6 and 7 Drama students have been rehearsing their scenes from Roald Dahl’s, The Witches and The BFG and will be presenting their scenes to our Year 3 and 4 students. This will provide a valuable opportunity for our students to develop their acting skills, utilising voice and movement, to connect with a younger audience.
