Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

CAMPS

August was such a huge month for our school with school camps right across Victoria. I’m certain that you have been keeping up to date with pictures and stories from school and your children.

It is rare that we would have all camps in the one month and hopefully next year they are spread out a little. We don’t however have a lot of choice about when we book on occasions because the camps we attend are very sought after. We spoke at assembly about camps on Monday and it was great to hear from the students about their experiences but also from some of the staff as well. Everyone involved enjoyed their camps even though they were exhausted at the end of each week.

The experiences away from home, socialising with their friends in a different environment and seeing unfamiliar parts of our State are components of their social and emotional growth.

These camps would not go ahead without the support of our whole school community- students, parents, guardians and staff. Please continue to prioritise these great experiences for your children in the years to come.

WPPA EVENTS

The Father's Day Stall was held today with all students having an opportunity to purchase gifts for their father's/guardians. It was a great success and we hope all our families enjoy a wonderful day on Sunday.

The other major fund raiser which is also a great day returning to our calendar is the Footy Breakfast. This is on the last day of term on Friday 15th September.

Everyone is welcome to dress in their footy colours and enjoy a family breakfast at school. All meals are pre-ordered so please ensure that your family does not miss out on the fun. Order forms have been distributed so if you are yet to receive one please contact the school office.

These events can't take place with out the help from our school community. So if you have the opportunity to assist at any of these events please contact Skye in the office.

RACIAL AND RELIGIOUS VILIFICATION

Victoria’s rich cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths as a State. Everyone should feel safe and welcome.

Unfortunately, some people think its okay to treat others badly because of their race or religion. It’s not! No one should be treated unfairly because of where they come from, how they look or the language they speak.

It’s the same for our great school. All staff, students and families are proud of our rich diversity.

We are not satisfied to be non-racist at Warrnambool Primary School. We are determined to be anti-racist. This means that we will not enable racist comments to pass unchallenged. These are conversations we have daily at school. Follow up at home is vital so that the message becomes culture. As a school community we have the power to effect change.
