UNIT OF WORK

Engineering For A Need/ Social and Emotional Learning

Our Grade 3/4s are further developing their empathy and understanding of what makes an inclusive and equitable community. During this unit, students will gain an understanding of diversity and harmful stereotyping. They will meet people with disabilities who will share their experiences and stories. Students will learn about assistive technologies and their importance to ensure equity and access for all people. They will use the 5E Model and The Design Thinking Process to create a product to address a need and present these to their peers and TOM: Melbourne.

We will be continuing to work through the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Program (RRRR). This program supports schools and early childhood settings to promote and model respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

Using the RRRR Program, and with support from Open Parachute and Zones of Regulations, we aim to help build positive social interactions across our class and the whole school community.
