On Friday 26th April the Grade 3 & 4 students headed to Bluefit Swimming to compete in the House Carnival. This event gives all students the opportunity to showcase their swimming in a fun environment.
These students had just completed an 8 day intensive swimming program so were ready to show off the skills they had been learning. The event started with backstroke, then a fun noodle race where the students could use the noodle to aid them to the end of the 25m pool. After that came the breast stroke, then the kick board race, this event is a great leg burner and had some close finishes. Finally the blue ribbon event, 25m freestyle! These races were competitive and kept Ms Grace on her toes at the finish line.
Thank you to all the Grade 3 & 4 teachers, support staff and parents who volunteered their time on the day. Also a massive shout out to the house captains, Charlotte, Adler, Benji, Maddox & Fleur, along with our swimming captains, Jack and Poppy, for all their work before, during and after the event.
The results were so close - in 4th place with 333 points was Fairhaven, in 3rd place with 334 points was Lonsdale, in 2nd place with 335 points was Sorrento, therefore, the winning house was Apollo with 347 points!
The points from this carnival will be added to the points from the 5/6 swimming carnival later this term to determine the overall house swimming champions.
The annual House Cross Country event took place at Dendy Park on Tuesday 30th April.
The students were excited to get going as the temperature dropped and the rain started to come down. This did not dampen the competitive spirit as everyone gave their best to complete the course. It was great to hear the cheering and encouragement from those watching.
This event was supported by many parents who gave up their morning to assist as course marshals, and make sure everyone was safe and keeping to the correct track. Thank you to all those who came down, we really appreciate it.
Congratulations to Fairhaven for accumulating the most house points on the day and becoming the 2024 House Cross Country Champions! Lonsdale were 2nd, Apollo 3rd and Sorrento 4th.
Congratulations Fairhaven and well done to everyone who competed and collected house points for their house.
A big congratulations to Harvey Betts and Fleur Cracknell, who were selected to be Brighton Primary School’s Cross Country Captains for 2024. They will lead a team of 72 students to the District Cross Country on Wednesday 15th May.
