Year 1/2
This term, students will be focusing on different writing strategies such as onomatopoeias, alliteration, similes to add further interest to their written pieces. We have recently focused on onomatopoeias (sound words), students did a fabulous job finding these in various texts and using them within a sentence.
Our maths focus has been subtraction which we have been exploring in many different ways, through concrete materials, written formats and worded problems. Students are starting to recognise the link between addition and subtraction and continuing their fluency in number facts.
It has been a great start to the term with Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden up and running. Students have enthusiastically come to classes, ready to learn more kitchen skills and how to work cooperatively as a team.
We continue to explore more about natural disasters, where we have focused on what is a natural disaster and how it can affect a community. We have also dived deep into what a flood is and made connections to our own lives about living through floods.
