Physical Education
Week 3 is almost done & dusted…already! Term 2 has kicked off really well with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement from all grades. The Preps continue to blow me away with how well they’ve settled in to school and how truly wonderful they are in PE. The dance moves at the beginning of each PE session continue to rock my world, especially all the hip hop moves. I’m being constantly challenged to pull out my best moves and create new ones…not easy when you’re a grown up and think you’ve tried every dance move there is! The Preps are working on their catching and throwing skills and even learned how to play Tunnel Ball, that was an interesting class!
Year 1 and 2 are halfway through our Indoor Hockey unit and already I have seen huge improvements in skill and ability. Hockey is not an easy game but the kids are learning the importance of not giving up and continuing to support each other.
Years 3-6 spent a week doing Badminton (a very tricky yet entertaining sport) but then I realised we need to get practising Athletics as we have a whole school Athletics Carnival coming up in week 7. So, now we find ourselves running, throwing and jumping our way through to week 7. One exciting change is that we have been generously lent some High Jump equipment from Erin Rose at Malmsbury PS, something the students are very excited about.
Next Tuesday we are heading off to Hanging Rock for the District Cross Country. This is a huge event on the Lancefield Primary School calendar and I’m trepidatiously excited to report we have a sunny 20 degree day predicted!! This is unheard of for the Hanging Rock event which is notorious for hail, high winds, heavy rain and frozen children…& teachers. Fingers crossed that the BOM have not got it wrong!!
Have a great few weeks everyone!
