Year 6 Team
This interview is from a new teacher called Naomi. Naomi is a teacher that has started this year and is having a fun time at her new school. And let's hear the first question.
What was the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
“On my first day of teaching at LPS, I wore the exact same outfit as Jo. We looked like twins and it was so embarrassing.”
And here is the second question. What do you like about teaching?
“I like getting to know the kids and helping their brains grow.”
Now time for the third question. What do you dislike about teaching?
“I hate the homework I have to do. It takes so long and so much effort.”
Now time for a break...
We have interviewed a grade 1 from Naomi’s class. This is Sophia and let's hear from her.
What is your favourite subject in school and why?
“I like sport, I like doing all the games and activities we get to do. My favourite sport is playing European handball. It is a game our whole class likes.”
Why is this school so good?
“I like having best friends and I like the front playground and I love all the teachers.”. Do you like having a new teacher and why is it good?
“I like how she's really nice and she does good school work and she makes it fun and she lets us do brain breaks.”
Now we are going back to Naomi.
What is it like to be at a new school and how is it going?
“It is tricky because it is different but everyone has been really nice at LPS and I am learning lots of new things”
Onto the next question. What is your favourite subject to teach?
“I never liked maths but I enjoy teaching maths now. It is fun when all the kids and I play games and have fun.”
And to the last question. Why did you want to teach?
“Because I loved being a student at school so I never wanted to leave school.”
Now it is time to wrap up. I hope you enjoyed this interview and listening to all the perspectives from all these people and if you have any questions talk to Lily or Abbey.
Lily and Abbey
This week Zayne and Finley interviewed Wiley to find out a little more about what makes him the great teacher that we know.
The most embarrassing thing that has happened to him was one time at a lecture his jeans felt weird so he stomped and a pair of underwear from yesterday fell out from the bottom of his jeans.
Wiley’s favourite part of teaching is seeing the smiling faces of children in the morning.
He finds teaching with Travis every day the most challenging part of teaching (jokes).
His favourite celebrity is Neil Armstrong.
He started teaching in 2009 and he chose teaching because - "It chose him!"
Wiley thinks that the main difference between teaching year 5/6 and 3/4 is how independent year 5/6s are.
We had so much fun interviewing Wiley because he was so honest and was hilarious as usual.
