7 and year 10 vaccinations

In August, the Year 7 and year 10 vaccinations will take place at HP, run by the Casey Council Vaccination Team.

Please read the information about the vaccinations and why they are so important for your child, your family and your community.

Permission forms will be sent out early next week to all parents of year 10 students.

Year 7 students would have received a permission form in their enrolment pack and returned it to the school.

If you didn’t get one of these forms, or forgot to complete it, there will be more forms available at the front desk.

HEALTHY LIFE HABITS with Year 12’s

The Year 12’s participated Healthy Life Habits Workshops during their Mentor class on Tuesday May 7 and Tuesday May 14.  The Wellbeing Team & Infinite Fitness (external agency) delivered workshops to each of the house groups on the topics of Nutrition, Physical Activity, Mindfulness and Sleep.

We would encourage you to check in with your Year 12 and ask them what they have taken away from the sessions.  We would love for you to reinforce the important messages of eating well, keeping active, mindfulness and sleep - especially as we head into exam period.

Australia's 2024 vaping regulation reforms: what you need to know!

This article on the QUIT website Australia’s 2024 Vaping Regulations: What you need to know | Quit briefly summarises what you need to know and the impacts of this year's vaping reforms.

Here’s what you need to know about the regulations:

  • Importation is limited to non-medical vaping products: Importing all non-prescription (or ‘non-medical’) vaping products is now banned.
  • Personal importation ban of vapes: Personal importation of all vapes into Australia from overseas is now banned.
  • Prescription access: A new pathway has been set up for medical and nurse practitioners to prescribe medical vapes if clinically appropriate.
  • Ban on advertising: Vapes cannot be advertised in Australia: in print, online or social media platforms
  • What about vape shop sales? The new regulations focus on importing rather than supplying vaping products into Australia.
  • Quitline expansion: Meeting the needs of younger people and making it easier to get support or advice on quitting vaping (or smoking).

World No Tobacco Day 2024

World No Tobacco Day 2024 empowers youth globally to demand protection from harmful tobacco products, urging governments to adopt policies shielding them from manipulative marketing tactics on social media and streaming platforms.

As local health champions, we can make a difference by promoting smoke and vape-free policies to safeguard our community, our families and our children.

Test your knowledge of tobacco company tactics with the World Health Organisation quiz. Quiz for World No Tobacco Day 2020 (who.int)  Once completed, it will provide you with the correct answers.
