Term 2 Success in Mabo

Hello Mabo Students,

Congratulations on making it halfway through the term! Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance are truly commendable. Each one of you has shown great effort and determination, and we are incredibly proud of your progress.

As we move into the second half of the term, remember to take care of yourselves, stay focused, and continue to support one another. Your commitment to your studies and wellbeing is inspiring, and I have no doubt that you will finish the term even stronger.

Keep up the fantastic work, and let’s make the rest of this term just as successful!

National Reconciliation Week

This week the College has celebrated National Reconciliation Week. Students have had the opportunity in Mentoring classes (and many other classes) to have discussion around the theme: Now More Than Ever.

National reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. Thank you to the staff behind all of these opportunities for our students.

Eddie Mabo Day

Mabo House is named after an Indigenous Australian man from the Torres Strait Islands, Edward Koiki Mabo. Eddie was known for his role in campaigning for Indigenous land rights in Australia. Eddie’ life work embodied our College Values and showed how dedication, persistence and efforts can make a difference. In Mabo House, we see students as Eddie did, enthusiastically participating in College life to make our community the best it can be. As a community we will recognise and celebrate Eddie Mabo on June 3rd.

Best Wishes for Upcoming Exams (YR 10-12)

As you approach your upcoming exams, we want to extend my best wishes to each of you. This is a time to showcase your hard work, knowledge, and dedication.

Remember to:

- Stay Organized: Plan your study time and prioritize your tasks.

- Take Care of Yourself: Ensure you get enough rest, eat well, and take breaks to recharge.

- Stay Positive: Believe in your abilities and stay confident. You’ve prepared for this!

 City Experience (YR 9)

Yesterday, myself and Meg Beattie (Mabo House SLL 7-9) had the opportunity to accompany our students on the first day of the City Experience. All students (across all Houses) embarked on this wonderful opportunity for you to explore, learn, and immerse yourselves in the vibrant life of Melbourne.

Students showed us they were:

Curious: by embrace new experiences and being open to learning from everything around you.

Prioritising their safety; by following all guidelines and taking care of themselves selves and each other.

Having fun: students enjoyed the sights, sounds, and activities the city has to offer. Highlights of day 1 were the Old Melbourne Goal, the MCG Sports Tour, Street Art in Hosier Lane and the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) sessions.

Thank you to all teachers who attended and to Gabi Phelan (Walton House) for overseeing the 3 day excursion.

In the final week of term, we are hosting the College House Assemblies. At this time, we are competing against the other Houses for House points in the following areas:
