From the Principal

Welcome to Term 2
I trust everyone had a relaxing break over the school holiday period.
As mentioned in my welcome to Term 2 video address last week, the events that transpired in the first weekend of the holiday break at Westfield Bondi Junction have left an indelible mark on our community. We send our thoughts and prayers to those that have been directly affected. As a community, I am reassured that we are strong and we are supportive of each other, especially in times of need. Should you have any concerns regarding your daughter/s please contact us for assistance. Should it be a Senior School enquiry, in the first instance please contact your year mentor or in the case of the Junior School, your class teacher.
This term is a 9-week term, and we have many events and activities that will accompany our learning that takes place each day. Last week we were delighted to welcome Year 11 leaders from Ascham and Kincoppal Rose Bay to participate in our first Eastern Girls Schools Alliance Leadership seminar. This was an opportunity for our girls to build connections with others and to deeply consider the qualities of leadership mindsets and practices they can nurture as they consider their impact as young women of influence and purpose.
We look forward to our annual senior school production The Halo Effect, directed by our Head of Drama Ms Lisa Moir. Held from 16 - 19 May, Kambala students will be performing with students from Cranbrook School, Reddam House, St Andrew’s Cathedral School and Sydney Grammar School and it will be an outstanding production. Tickets are still available for the three performances next week. Click here to purchase.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner and every year we celebrate the significant women in the lives of our girls. The Hampshire House Mother’s Day breakfast was held today, and it was lovely to see the Hampshire mothers and carers onsite. The Junior School Mother’s Day breakfast will be held tomorrow and the Senior School on Friday. These events are a lovely reminder of the spirit, love and care in our community, and we are so happy to celebrate them with you.
Our teachers have returned refreshed and reinvigorated. We always aim to begin our term by involving our staff in meaningful collaboration and development time. During our beginning of Term 2 staff professional development day, we presented key concepts from the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan to staff with particular focus on the pillar of learning. It was a robust day of discussion and thought leadership, with many of our educators presenting on projects and initiatives that have come as a result of our work with Professor Ron Ritchhart, our Academic in Residence.
We know our community will be equally interested in the new 2024-2027 Strategic Plan and we very much look forward to presenting this in Term 3.
I do hope I have the pleasure of seeing many of our families over the coming weeks and I know we are excited to be back at school for yet another term of exceptional and rigorous learning and thinking.
