Interschool swimming
Over the span of several weeks, our school swimming team participated in multiple swimming competitions against different schools around Victoria. Even if they had only one event, everyone put their absolute best into each race they took part in.
On the day of division, the first level after our own swimming carnival, Nossal came second in the Casey North district, a great effort considering we are competing against schools with year 7s and 8s.
A staggering number of students made it to the next round, regionals, including most of our relay teams. On the day of Regionals (which was the 25th of March), the competition was much tougher, with many of us getting 2nd or 3rd place medals.
These were still amazing achievements, and a number of our relay teams, most notably the Men’s 15-16 & 17-20 Medley Relay and 15 & 16 Freestyle Relay, secured a medal coming in 3rd, with many other relay teams being competitive coming in 4th & 5th.
Additionally, a huge congratulations to Ethan Khoe, who made it to States by winning the 50 Meter Men’s Breaststroke with a time of 36 seconds, eventually placing 4th!
Overall, we finished 6th place which again is a wonderful achievement considering most of the schools we were competing against were 7-12 schools.
A long list of Nossal records have been broken this swimming season, which is incredibly impressive!
These records include:
- Ying and Claire from Phoenix and Ethan from Pegasus breaking the 50m Freestyle records
- Jonathan from Garuda breaking the 100m Free record
- Ethan breaking the 100m Breaststroke record
- Claire and Thomas from Phoenix breaking the 50m and 100m Butterfly records respectively
- Diyathi breaking the 100m Backstroke record
- Diyathi, Thomas, and Timothy breaking the 200m Individual Medley records.
Once again, a very big congratulations to the record holders and Ethan for making it to, and we look forward to coming back even stronger next year!
