With the Monivae Library being at the “cutting edge” of popular culture, I would like to share a recent display curated by our resident Creative Director, Mrs. Holly Herrmann.

During a recent Friday lunchtime, the Library hosted many student “Swifties” for a music session featuring nothing but the songs of Taylor Swift. This was the release day of her new album(s), The Tortured Poets Society.

It seemed the perfect opportunity to highlight some famous tortured poets on our display wall.

Along with a picture of the poet themselves, (beautifully ‘framed’ by our own Mimi Chun of Year 12, pictured above), there is a brief description of the poet, along with a printed poem that is left un-named.  Viewers of the display can try and match the Poem to the Poet.

The poets are John Keats, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickinson, Wilfred Owen, Maya Angelou, Sylvia Plath and Dylan Thomas.

This week once again saw our Uniting Church lunch regular volunteer, Mr. Leo McMahon, shop, prepare, cook, and serve a hearty and delicious hot meal to twenty people on Tuesday.

Mr. McMahon was very ably assisted by five enthusiastic and terrific young women from Year 9.

Thank you all once again for your efforts. Your actions really do make a difference in the day to day life of some of our local residents in Hamilton.
