Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the start of Term 2. I hope you had an enjoyable and rejuvenating Easter break spent with family and friends.

I thank parents and students for their understanding and support in the midst of the many changes to the teachers’ taking classes between Terms 1 and 2. I know that despite the changes, the learning continuity of our young people has retained its quality and remained consistent.  I thank all Monivae teachers for their dedication to ensuring this.

Year 10

This week our Year 10 students participated in Work Experience. They explored a diverse range of professions from construction sites to radio stations to teaching to many professionals and trades. It was a week of rich learning filled with excitement and discovery as students gained insight into potential future pathways. Congratulations to our students and thank you to those in the community who hosted them and to families who ensured our young people could get to ‘work’.  Thank you also to staff members who made it possible and to those who ensured our young people had a visit or a call from a familiar face to check in across the week. A particular thanks goes to Mr Michael Harms, Careers co-ordinator, for supporting our students through this valuable experience.

Next week our Year 10 students head off to Melbourne for their Careers Camp. I wish them well with this experience and I’m sure we will hear many stories of their encounters along with many photos. Thank you to the staff who are supporting this wonderful opportunity.

Cadet Camp

Our year 8's attended Cadet camp this week at Victoria Valley. The weather was kind with no rain and mild weather. A large number of parents and families visited the campsite with Fr Ted McCormack msc conducting the Cadet Mass. Keep an eye out on our socials for the photos and activities experienced throughout the week. The Cadet camp could not happen without the support of many staff and volunteers.  I thank them sincerely for their contribution to this program.

Year 7 Enrolments 2025

On Thursday Grade 6 students from across the region attended ‘Spend the Day at Monivae’. Students experienced the vast array of opportunities a Monivae education has to offer. A reminder, 2025 Enrolments close at the end of May. If you haven’t completed an enrolment and are considering a Monivae education for your child, please do so as soon as possible.

Catholic Education Week

This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week – In the light of Christ. 150 years of the Ballarat Diocese being recognised ar the story of Catholic Schooling that has been taking place since 1849. Through the various founders of religious orders associated with the Diocese of Ballarat, our inspiration and vision has been to pursue the ‘fullness of life for all our students’.
