Careers News

It’s been a very busy time in the careers department with Year 10 students orgainising their Work Experience and preparing themselves for the world of work. This years Work Experience week will be Monday 24 – Friday 28 June.

  • Students need to be very organised and proactive in finding a suitable placement and should NOT leave it till the last minute.
  • Work Experience is compulsory for Year 10 students at St Mary’s College and must be organized and all documents returned by Friday 31st May.

We still have a few students who are struggling to secure a placement so if you know of any employers or businesses who would be willing to support students with a 1 week placement please let me know tanya.oakley@smseymour.catholic.edu.au

Next Wednesday, 8th May, all Year 9 students will be travelling to Shepparton to attend the 2024 Careers Day Out at the Wodonga Tafe Campus. There will be a wide variety of exhibitor in attendance, including Tafe providers, Universities, Trades and various industries. There will be a host of demonstrations and hands-on, practical activities for students to participate in.

In Pastoral Care, students should have researched which exhibitors they might like to visit and ask questions of and which activities and demonstrations they are interested in attending.

The Careers Day may inspire student’s future pathways and assist them with selecting their Year 10 subjects.

Year 9 families are asked to check PAM for additional information and to grant permission for your child to attend.

We look forward to a successful day out.
