IGNITE

At the beginning of term, the IGNITE students completed a STEM project as part of their study of the ANZACs. They learned about the innovative drip rifle that was designed by LCPL William Scurry on the Gallipoli peninsula.

These drip rifles, triggered throughout the night by water dripping from a can, concealed the movements of allied forces so that there were astonishingly zero casualties from the retreat. Limited resources were available for the task, but the only rule was that once the water was poured in, the students had to just step back and wait.

Jack and Charlotte were able to successfully pop their ‘balloon rifle’ with their cantilever design, well done!
