Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,

Welcome back for Term 2! It has been wonderful to hear all the happy holiday stories from students, staff and parents. I am pleased that people were able to enjoy quality time with family and friends, using the break to rest and recharge for another productive term.

Ministerial Visit

There was great excitement here at school on Thursday morning as we welcomed some VIP guests. Minister for Education, Ben Carroll and Local MP, Anthony Carbines, toured the school and chatted with students in classrooms about their learning. Our school captains met with Ben and Anthony to highlight and discuss the great opportunities they have experienced while attending HPS. There was a fabulous energy around the school and was a calm and positive environment as we toured around.

Year 3 Camp

This afternoon we welcomed back our Year 3 cohort from their first overnight school camping experience. Everyone had a fabulous adventure and enjoyed the opportunities of independence and camaraderie that were presented.

A very big thank you to staff and volunteers who attended and ensured a happy and safe camp for all students; Heather Gordon, Libby Langlands, Charlie Hughes, Rochelle Pennefather, Gemma Lindsay-Knape, Gihan Gamage, Aaron Keeffe and Claire McKay. We hope you all enjoy a well deserved rest on the weekend!

ANZAC Day Service

At 9.10am on Wednesday 24th April, there will be a student led commemorative service to honour, remember and thank the contribution and sacrifices of veterans and serving personnel across time. The service will take place on the basketball court, in front of the flag poles. Students are welcome to bring a flower from their garden that can be placed around the flag poles during the service. HPS community are invited and encouraged to attend.

SRC- Student Representative Council (*formally referred to as JSC)

The SRC is a representative council designed to promote and provide student voice, agency and leadership at our school. The council evaluate what is working well at the school from the students perspective and offer ideas and opportunities to enhance, instigate and develop further success at Heidelberg PS.

Congratulations to the students in Years 3-6 who were successfully elected to represent their class on the 2024 SRC. There were many worthy candidates that put themselves forward and we congratulate everyone for their effort.

The first SRC meeting will be held next week and we wish these young leaders all the best in their new role.
