Hello families,
What a wonderful week 2 of term 2 we have had!
The students are well and truly into their term two learning and inquiry topic of “How does our body grow and how can I help it?” Going around to the classrooms this week, students have been super settled and a beautiful learning buzz happening. Here are some great prompting questions to ask at home about your child’s learning at school and about their day:
“What was your favourite thing about today?”
“How did you make someone smile today?”
“What was the most interesting thing you learned today?”
“What are you most looking forward to tomorrow?”
On ANZAC Day, the Grade 6 Student Leaders attended the Arch of Victory Service. ANZAC Day is an opportunity to pay tribute and remember those who fought during war. There was a great turnout to this service with lots of past and present Dana Street students attending as well. The school leaders laid a wreath to honour those who served at war.
Although we haven’t had any reports of this within our School Community for quite a while, some schools around Ballarat have had reports of people going up to students on their way to and from school. Please have a conversation with your child/children about safety around strangers and the importance of letting us know at school if something has occurred.
The Book Fair will be taking place all next week in the SLC. There will be an opportunity to visit the Book Fair and purchase books each night after school between 3:30pm and 4pm. The SLC will also be open at lunch on Wednesday and Thursday to purchase books. Please be reminded that this is a cashless event and EFT facilities will be available to make purchases. More information about the Book Fair under the Book Fair tab in the newsletter.
As mentioned last week by Ryan regarding cash handling going into the Book Fair and beyond.
“The Department of Education continue to update and refine their policies around cash handling, and it is becoming ever increasingly difficult to manage cash. We have had to consider this, moving forward, and we are unable to offer cash payments at many of our upcoming future events. The first of these to be affected is the Book Fair, in a couple of weeks’ time. I understand that this may inconvenience some parents, but it is something that we feel that we need to do in line with financial policy and process. Rest assured, EFTPOS and other methods of cashless payment will be offered. Thanks for your understanding.”
I hope everyone has a restful weekend!
Looking forward to a fabulous week 3.
