Welcome Back to Term 3

Welcome back to school for Term 3.  I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break, filled with opportunities to recharge and spend quality time with family and friends. As we embark on this new term, I am excited to share some updates and upcoming events with you.

Reflecting on Term 2 Successes

Firstly, I would like to congratulate our students and staff on the remarkable achievements in Term 2. From academic successes to extracurricular accomplishments, our Primary community has demonstrated exceptional dedication and hard work. There were so many  highlights of the term from sporting achievements at a number of events such as cross country to our amazing work celebrating Mount Carmel Day.  On this day we raised just over $900 for Mara House.

Looking Ahead to Term 3

Term 3 promises to be just as exciting, with a huge range of activities and initiatives planned to enrich our students' learning experiences.  Just a few of these events are listed below and for some further information will be sent through closer to the date.

  • Science Week: Our budding scientists will have the opportunity to work with Secondary staff to celebrate all things that make science fun.
  • Book Week: We will celebrate the joy of reading by celebrating Book Week - Reading is Magic with various activities, culminating in our Book Week Parade on Friday 23 August.  More information to come closer to the date.
  • Tournament of Minds: Our Year 5 and 6 students are already in the thick of answering their TOM challenge which will be presented on Saturday 7 September
  • Numerous Competition: Again students will be invited to participate in a number of competitions such as ICAS, AMC and Maths Relay.
  • Arts Festival: Bringing the Arts to the forefront of our community with a celebration culminating on Friday 6 September.
  • Canberra Trip: Our Year 6 students and a number of staff will be heading off on Monday 23 September and spending five days in our nation's capital.

Learning Conversation

We value the partnership between parents and teachers in supporting student success. This term, we will be holding our Term 3 Learning Conversations on Tuesday 17 and Thursday 19 September to continue the discussions around your child’s progress and set goals for the remainder of the year. We encourage you to take this opportunity again to engage with your child’s teachers and share any insights or concerns you may have.

As a staff we are always open to conversations, recognising the importance of dialogue between parents/carers and teachers.  Please remember that making an appointment to see your son or daughter’s classroom teacher at any time throughout the year is as easy as a phone call to Student Services, or an email to your classroom teacher - you do not  need to wait until Learning Conversations

Learning Conversation Survey

The implementation of the Learning Conversations three times a year was a new initiative at the start of the year.  We value your thoughts on new initiatives and in order for us to obtain your feedback, email correspondence with a link to a survey will be sent to all parents from Kinder - Year 6 this week. I would appreciate you completing it as soon as possible.

Gratitude

I would like to extend my gratitude to our dedicated staff, whose commitment to providing high-quality education and a supportive environment is truly commendable.

To our parents and guardians, thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. Your partnership is vital to the success of our students.

Finally, to our students, welcome back! I am looking forward to seeing your enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work throughout Term 3. We held our Welcome Back to Term 3 assembly last week and we promised that we would ‘Aspire To Be More’.

Green and Gold Day - TOMORROW

Tomorrow the College Leaders have asked that we turn the College Green and Gold so all students are asked to accessorise their uniform with green and gold.  This is purely to support the Australian Olympic Team and requires no donation - just enthusiasm and pride.

Pyjama Day

On Friday 9 August ALL Primary students are encouraged to wear their pyjamas to school and bring with them a gold coin donation. Mr McNulty and his Mission team will also be selling sweet treats on the day so students are also asked to bring some money to support this as well.  All money raised will go to theHobart Dogs Home.

Circle of Life

Students in Prep, Years 2, 4 and 6 will be working with Monique Hall next week on the program Circle of Life.  All parents were sent information regarding the lessons and if you would like to join your daughter below is the timetable, with all sessions in the O’Brien Resource Centre (Library). Please sign in at the College Office on arrival.
