Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
Although it's just ticked over into August, we are well underway planning for 2025 would you believe. After the success of our Enrolment Information Night in May, we are now finalising enrolments for next year. If you have a child who will be attending prep next year, please make sure you have enrolled them accordingly. If you need assistance, please contact the office. Likewise, if you know of families with prep children for next year, please encourage them to contact the school at their earliest convenience.
What a blast everyone had at our mini-Olympics day last week. From all accounts it was a hugely popular day with loads of fun and excitement. A huge thank you to the parents who were able to come along and watch, or indeed run events. It's another nice example of parental involvement in our school community.
Last week we sent out an extraordinary edition of the newsletter regarding the Parent Opinion Survey with two ZERO-X OSPREY drones being raffled off for those families who complete the survey. To date we have had a great uptake of raffle tickets, but it is not too late. If you would like your family to be in the running for a drone, simply complete the survey and send a screenshot of the final page to the school at mackellar.ps@education.vic.gov.au to be in the running.
Next year our grade five and six students (this year's grade four and five students) have the opportunity to attend Phillip Island for their school camp. If you would like your child to attend this camp, we really must know as soon as possible, as if we do not have sufficient interest we will need to cancel the camp. Whilst we are still awaiting details for the School Saving Bonus from the Department, we anticipate this $400 per child at school will be available to use on school camps, thus reducing the cost significantly. Please let the office know if you would like to attend so we can plan, or cancel, accordingly.
Finally, our next Fathering Project event is fast approaching on August 26th, so dads, carers and special people mark the date in your diary. We would love to see as many dads or fatherly figures (of any gender) at school for the morning as we acknowledge the very important role fathers have in the lives of their children.
Kind Regards,
Simon McGlade
