Some words from the Principal
Mrs Danielle Heatley
Olympic fever has peaked this week at Karoo! With Australia putting in an outstanding performance in the Olympics this year, it has generated much sporting excitement. Our Foundation to Year 2 loved the Potato Olympics and dressing in green and gold across the school.
As our school community watches these Olympians with awe, we are reminded that the current medal tally is not an easy achievement. Olympians and paralympians are not successful just by chance. Of course, there is an element of natural talent and ability but that must be fed by values such as tenacity, persistence, independence, confidence and resilience much like our school values. Classrooms are talking about how many Olympians are demonstrating our school values of Kindness, Personal Excellence and Tenacity everyday.
On Principal Appreciation Day, Mrs Hoffmann, Ms Kuusela, Mrs Phillips and I were deeply moved by the outpouring of kindness and gratitude from both students and teachers. The heartfelt messages, thoughtful gestures, and beautiful butterflies on our doors truly highlighted the kindness of our school community - something that makes our school so special. It is an honour to work alongside such dedicated educators and enthusiastic students. Thank you for making this day—and every day—a reminder of why we love what we do.
YOUR THOUGHTS ARE IMPORTANT TO US! Parent feedback is really valuable for us to understand if the work we are focused on is having an impact, as well as identifying next steps for us as a school.
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. All families are invited to participate in the survey and it will be open until Friday 30 August 2024.
To complete the survey, please refer to my Compass post to the school community on July 30th, and follow the steps below:
Currently we have had 7% of families complete the survey. When we only have a small number of parents complete the survey, it doesn’t give us a clear overall picture from a wide variety of sources.
Have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing you around the school,
Regards,
