Principal's Report

Dear Families,

We are all very jealous of Heather taking long service leave and spending time in Darwin at her nephew’s wedding. I’m sure she is enjoying her break and the warm weather.

OLYMPIC GAMES

We have lots of Olympic Games excitement buzzing around the school. There are potato athletes, Olympic villages, Olympic torches and the F-2s are closely following an Australian swimmer – Jenna Strauch.

Luke R drew a very impressive free hand drawing of the Eiffel Tower yesterday. Great job Luke!

CYBERSAFETY

Yesterday, we had a visit from Victoria Police officer Brooke. She spoke to the Grade 3-6 students regarding online safety. The program is produced by the Australian Federal Police and is presented to Primary and Secondary schools. Brooke spoke of an interesting analogy which compared children visiting a large shopping centre on their own and speaking to complete strangers, sharing their name, address, information about their family etc, to entering the online world and speaking to strangers there. We would never allow our children to roam unsupervised in large shopping centres talking to strangers, so we should take the same approach when they are online and encourage them to be aware of the risks, as well as tell a trusted adult if things don’t feel right.

BADMINTON SETS

We recently purchased some new Badminton sets with the support from Parents & Friends fundraising. Mr Tarrant has set them up in the hall for a PE unit on Badminton. It’s great to see the kids learning about this sport and learning some new skills.

BABY ARGUS

We had a lovely visit from Mason, Emily and baby Eleanor this morning. We were all thrilled to meet their beautiful new addition.
