From The Acting Principal

Stephen Arthurson

Dear Families,

Hasn’t it been delightful over the past week seeing the sun more frequently, and even a couple of temperatures beginning with a 2? Brighter days certainly serve to lift the mood of everyone around the school. We are effectively at the halfway point of the term, so hopefully there are even brighter and sunnier days ahead. As the old John Paul Young song goes, “Spring is in the air, everywhere I look around” (At least, I think those are the lyrics!).

This morning we attended Mass as a school community for the Assumption of Mary, which is a Holy Day of Obligation. On August 15th each year, Catholics around the world remember Mary being assumed (taken) into heaven to be with Jesus and the Saints. It is believed that because of Mary’s special role as the Mother of Jesus, she was too holy for her body to remain on Earth.

When we think of Mary, it is helpful for us to think of the qualities that made her such a holy person, so that when we pray to her, we can ask for her guidance in showing these qualities with greater consistency. Who couldn’t use a little more patience, trust, loyalty, kindness, courage and selflessness in their lives at times?

Congratulations

  • To those Year 4 students who received the Sacrament of Eucharist over the last fortnight.
  • To Signor D’Amico for organising such a fun celebration of all things Italian last Friday.
  • (Preemptively) To all students representing St Anne’s in the Sunbury District Athletics Carnival at Craigieburn tomorrow.
