What an amazing first half of Term 3 at HBPS! Our first whole school assembly was filled with excitement as we welcomed Paralympian Martyn Dunn to our school. Martyn, who competed in the tennis at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, shared his inspiring journey with us and graciously answered questions from our enthusiastic students.

100-year-old Prep's 

100 Day of Prep for these little legends. How adorable do they look in their costumes?! They had so much fun celebrating with lots of fun activities.

District Aths 

We were super proud of our little athletes efforts both on the track and out in the field. Here are just a few snaps of some of the success we had. We were proud of all of our students for giving it their best, supporting each other and being good sports towards all other competitors

Year 5/6's and the Olympian 

On Friday the Year 5/6 students had the incredible opportunity to meet Shannon Reynolds, a 2020 Olympic kayaker! Shannon shared her inspiring journey, discussed the intense training and what it’s like to compete at the highest level.  It was a fascinating and motivating experience for everyone involved! 

Pyjama day 

We are all about comfort and coziness as we wore our PJs in support of the Pyjama Foundation! 

Our whole school PJ Day raised a whopping $350 in which went to children in Foster Care.

1/2's Ninja Warrior 

Our Grade 1/2 students had an epic adventure at Geelong Ninja! The excitement was off the charts as they tackled thrilling ninja courses, mastering new skills and pushing their limits. Their energy and determination were truly awesome—what a fantastic day of fun and achievement! 

Science Week

Science Week has been teaching students about solids and liquids by making and exploring the Non-Newtonian fluid - Oobleck (you may have noticed some splatters of this around the school grounds this week). Students have also had a chance to participate in some science experiments during lunch times this week. Thank you to the incredible work that has been put into organising such fun and exciting learning experiences for our students by the wonderful STEM teachers.

Purple Day 

HBPS will be wearing purple tomorrow in support of Bullying No Way: National Week of Action, which has taken place from 12 to 16 August 2024.

Purple is the new hero colour, symbolising our commitment to standing against bullying.

2024 Theme: Everyone Belongs. When we all feel like we belong, bullying struggles to find a place. This year's theme is about embracing who we are, respecting everyone's differences, and standing up together against unkindness.

Belonging means we all have a role in preventing bullying. We're encouraged to speak up and create a safe space where everyone feels supported and respected, and our voices are heard and valued.

Let's come together as a community and make a stand against bullying! 💜

STEM News

In STEM this week, students have been working with members of their house group to complete a series of design challenges.  They have been using different materials to build the tallest tower, design a cosy tent for a Lego figure to spend a week in and using construction materials to spell out their house group name!  

The students needed to work as a team within a time frame to complete each challenge and earn points for their house. So far, the points from the challenges are as follows:

Glengate - 74

Chaucer - 62

Devon - 55

Vines - 48

The Preps later added to these scores putting their problem-solving skills to the test!

Book Week Celebrations 

We will be celebrating Book Week in Week 6. We will have book themed activities running all week for students and families to join in on. On Friday, the 23rd of August, we will have a Book Week Dress Up Day and Parade at 9:15 am. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character. This year's theme is "Reading is Magic," so let your imagination run wild! We invite all families to come along and join in the fun as our students showcase their magical characters. 

Father’s Day Stall - Thursday 29th August

Children will have the opportunity to buy a gift for their dads, granddads and other father figures in their lives. Gifts are priced between $2 and $12. Classes will visit the stall between 9am and 11am, with children being able to buy up to 2 gifts at that time. Only those with money will be able to purchase on the day. We are unable to ‘hold’ any purchases.  Please send a bag for your child to put their gift/s in.
