Interschool Basketball
Maffra Secondary College had quite an eventful day at the Interschool Basketball competition in Traralgon! Here’s a breakdown of their performances:
Senior Boys Basketball Team:
Game 1: We faced a tough opponent in SEDA College. Tom Buchanan was exceptional, showcasing his shooting prowess with four consecutive 3-pointers. Brayden Meli, Derek Brewer, Josh Rickard, and Ruben Corbell were key players in moving the ball down the court. Ruben Corbell and Kallam Green stood out with strong rebounding performances.
Game 2: Despite being competitive, we were defeated by Yarram.
Intermediate Boys Basketball Team:
Game 1: Unfortunately, the boys were comfortably defeated by Lavalla.
Game 2: We showed improvement and competitiveness against Yarram, leading for most of the game before narrowly losing. Blake Lindrea and Lincoln Patmore played crucial roles as top rebounders and scorers. Logan Van Sluys, Hamish Germaine, Lachlan Meli, Lachlan Wain, Jayden Shillingford, and Cade Richards contributed effectively in ball handling and overall team play.
Intermediate Girls Basketball Team:
Game 1: The girls put up a strong challenge against Catholic College, matching them goal for goal in the first 10 minutes. Bella Hunt emerged as a key player, excelling both defensively and offensively, scoring the majority of goals.
Game 2: We secured a comfortable victory against Kurnai, with all team members contributing to the scoreboard. Charlotte Nikolajew, Milla Oldham, and Lara Dowsett were pivotal with their strong rebounding and defensive pressure. Chloe Webb, Siennah Harrigan, and Summer Harbour played important roles in ball distribution and demonstrated excellent teamwork.
Overall, it’s clear that the students from Maffra Secondary College represented their school admirably, showing great sportsmanship and effort throughout the competition. Congratulations to all the teams for their hard work and dedication!
