Subject Selection for 2025
Years 8-11 students are currently in the process of making an informed decision regarding their 2025 subjects and have particpated in activities in iThrive and had presentations in their Year Level assemblies to support this process. To further support your child throughout this decision-making process, parents and guardians are able to access resources that can be helpful to assist in this decision, which can be found within the Subject Selection Handbook and Hazel Glen Careers website.
Students will also receive an email containing their Edval Choice Webcodes. This webcode will enable them to complete their selections within the subject selection portal. Students have until August 5th at 4:30pm to complete their selections.
Our College will also be hosting the Hazel Glen College Careers Expo on July 30th in the Performing Arts Centre. The Careers Expo will be open for students, parents and guardians to attend from 3pm to 5pm. Students will also be given the opportunity to attend during their lunchtime. At Hazel Glen College we understand that every pathway matters. This event will enable students to discover the different pathways available, whether it is further studies, training at TAFE or employment opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to talk to representatives from Universities, TAFEs, Apprenticeship Service Providers, the Australian Defence Force, Victoria Police and local small business owners.
We look forward to seeing you at the Careers Expo.
Year 9 City Experience
As part of our City Experience program, some of our Year 9 girls - Shreya, Kiara, Ginger and Freya - wrote an article based on interviews that they conducted with members of the public around Federation Square. They wrote about the importance of ANZAC Day to Melbournians today. Below is the article they put together!
Blue EDGE Program
The Blue EDGE program is running for a group of our Year 8 and Year 9 students and started this week. The program is run in collaboration with Victoria Police and the BlueLight Foundation. This initiative incorporates physical activity, a shared meal and workshops on key capabilities including mental health and wellbeing, safe decision making, emotional regulation, resilience, and connection.
Through interactive sessions with police officers and community leaders, students will learn practical strategies for managing stress, developing healthy relationships, and navigating challenges effectively. The program's goal is to empower students with the tools they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Northern Education Alliance Student Leadership Program - Day 2
Hazel Glen College hosted Day 2 of the NEA Student Leadership Program with 10 students from each school attending the College. Students from Hazel Glen College, Mernda Central College, Parade College, Plenty Valley Christian College, Ivanhoe Grammar and Marymede Catholic College were all a part of this program.
The theme of the day was "Discover Your Voice". Students heard from presenter Chris Daicos who shared some strategies on presenting to large groups of people and provided opportunities to practice presenting in front of their peers. Students also began work on a proposal for an initiative they will lead at their schools later this year which will be presented to their Prinicpal in their respective schools.
Day 3 of the program is coming up later this term and will be held at Parade College.
