Assistant Principals' Report
YEAR 6 2025
We are very excited to share some of the details for Year 6 in the Primary Years from 2025. Next year, we will be able to offer the following specialist subjects for our Year 6 students:
- PE
- Mandarin
- STEAM
- Performing Arts
- Visual Arts
- Science
- Food Technology
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in Interschool sports each Friday morning. An alternate sports program will run at the same time for students who are not part of an interschool sports team.
The Student Leadership Academy is beginning the process of choosing the style and design of a Year 6 jumper/jacket which we will make available to order at the end of Term 4. This process will also provide the opportunity for our current Year 5 students to have a voice in what the jumper/jacket will look like.
In 2025, Year 6 students will have the opportunity to attend camp in Term 1. This will be a two-night/three-day camp at Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza.
Students will also celebrate the end of their Primary Years at the end of 2025 with a Celebration evening, giving students the chance to dress up, formally acknowledge their achievements and have fun with their classmates with a disco.
YEAR 4 CAMP
We are thrilled to announce that our Year 4 students will be heading to Lady Northcote in Bacchus Marsh for an exciting camp experience next week! This camp is from Monday 12th August to Wednesday 14th August.
This camp will be a fantastic opportunity for our students to build new skills, form new friendships and create wonderful memories. We are confident that they will have an amazing time participating in various activities and adventures. We wish all our Year 4 students a safe, fun, and enriching camp experience!
CANINE COMPREHENSION PROGRAM
We are excited to announce that Hazel Glen College has launched an 8-week Wellbeing program in collaboration with Canine Comprehension. As part of this initiative, we will be welcoming two Therapy Dogs, George and Jonesy, into our community.
These dogs will visit various classrooms to support student learning and wellbeing. They can be easily identified by their working harnesses, and their Mentor will be in uniform. Both Therapy Dogs are specially trained, up-to-date with their vaccinations, and receive regular health checks. They will be on-site on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, accompanied by their Mentor and our Wellbeing Leader, Tara Xuereb.
We understand that some families may have questions regarding this program. Please feel free to contact the Primary Years office with any inquiries.
STUDENTS ON SITE BEFORE SCHOOL
This is another reminder that we are still noticing that there are a number of students who are unsupervised on the school grounds before the day commences. Yard duty supervision times start at 8:30am, and if students arrive before this time, there is no staff supervision.
Below is some information about our OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) program if you are unable to adjust your schedules to ensure your child arrives after supervision begins:
