Head of Primary Years' Report
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Hazel Glen College,
Last Friday, our Preps celebrated 100 Days of School. This milestone is an important part of our Prep year with our staff and students celebrating their learning and achievements during this period. We are proud of our Preps and they had an amazing day. We appreciate the efforts that were put in by families to support the day to create special memories.
Also, last Friday was Principal's Day. This day is a time to reflect on the work at the College of our Principals. Being a principal is a profound privilege, as it allows you to shape the future by nurturing young minds and fostering a positive learning environment. The rewards of serving the community are countless—from witnessing the growth and success of students to building strong relationships with families and staff. It’s a role that is both challenging and deeply fulfilling, as every day brings new opportunities to make a lasting impact on the lives of others. I am fortunate to work alongside great members of the Principal Class here in the Primary Years and I would like to thank Ms Kate O'Halloran and Mr Anthony Palazzolo for their dedication to the Hazel Glen school community.
Our College Production of Mary Poppins Jr. is fast approaching and will be held on Wednesday the 28th, Thursday the 29th and Friday the 30th of August at Plenty Ranges Convention Centre. Tickets are available now to purchase. We look forward to many families joining us for the show.

Safety Reminder
A reminder that if students are travelling to school on bikes or scooters that they must be wearing a helmet. We are noticing that many students are arriving at school without helmets.
Primary Years Camping Program
For 2024 and 2025, there are slight changes to our camping program. This year, our Year 2 students will have the opportunity to participate in an Activities Day including fun activities, team sports and teamwork challenges to both help develop new relationships and deepen existing bonds of friendship. The Year 2 team are busy preparing the arrangements and will communicate details via Compass. Previously the Year 2's had a sleepover at school and this will no longer be an event.
Next year, we are excited to have new additions to our camping program and are exploring an overnight urban camp with a potential zoo experience for Year 3. Our Year 3, 4, and 5 students have their camps coming up shortly. Stay tuned for regular camp updates.
Hazel Glen College is committed to providing a safe and respectful learning environment where bullying will not be tolerated. The National Day Against Bullying is next Friday the 16th of August. 'Say No to Bullying Wristbands' will be for sale at recess outside Learning Neighbourhood 1 on Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th of August for $2.
On Friday 16th of August, all students are able to wear a splash of orange. This could include wearing an orange T-Shirt or a splash of orange such as an orange hair ribbon or scrunchy, an orange scarf or socks. These items can be worn over their PE or winter uniform. HGC uniform is still required to be worn.
Remember that Book Week is coming up soon and we look forward to seeing all of our students dressed as their favourite book characters to join in the fun.
