This week while some of the 5/6 students are at camp we had a visit from the kinder buddies. The 5/6 students were wonderful at reading stories and helping their buddies with games and activities.
Our students have finished publishing their explanation texts on, ‘From Seed to Tree’. They have handwritten their published pieces and added in some fantastic diagrams to support their writing.

Over this term the grade 5/6 students have been exploring the comprehension strategy ‘inferring’. We have looked at a range of fiction texts and discussed how to make an inference and also how to identify text clues we have used to help us reach our conclusion.

This week we have finished our unit on multiplication. We will continue to work on multiplication throughout the year, as many students need to further develop their speed and accuracy when recalling multiplication facts.
In problem solving, all classes joined up to explore how to calculate the number of

possible combinations on a menu. Many students started off by using a diagram and found shortcuts as they worked through the activity. We even had a few find an equation they could write to solve the problem accurately and efficiently.

We have been learning about Australia as a democracy and the levels of government. Students are constructing a building from one level of government out of a combination of 3D shapes. We will then put all the buildings

together to form a model city that contains buildings from all levels of government.
HAPPY CAMPERS!
We are having a wild time at UPCC! We have been on the flying fox, tube ride, canoeing, tried our luck at archery, geocaching and much much more! We have been fed up to the eye balls and sleeping little ;) Just what you want from a camp! See you all Friday!
