Principal's Report
How beautiful was the sunshine for our Athletics carnival today? I would like to thank our PE Specialist Teacher Mr Troy Coates for his time in organising and setting up this event. He definitely ensures this event is run like a well oiled machine. Credit is also given to our staff who endorse the order of the day making sure our students have the most successful outcomes. There has certainly been a great deal of practice happening at school and I am sure our fantastic day of action will be shared on Facebook and in our Sports News section of the newsletter soon.
Did you know? Bendigo Food share provides food for over 13,000 people each week. Next week is a time to reflect on the less fortunate in our community and raise awareness of the impact this has on families. Even for those of us who are not in this position, it's hard to remain hopeful with the constant rising in everyday household bills and the looming uncertainty about even more interest rate rises. This is where our faith becomes so important, St Mary McKillop of the Cross was someone who alway remained cheerful and hopeful in difficult times, she carried lollies in her pocket to give to the poor children she taught. Such a simple, yet very grateful gesture can make a world of difference to someone who is struggling. In parallel, this week’s Gospel is about the ‘Bread of Life.’ When we are fed by the Eucharist (either physically or spiritually), we too are called to share Christ's mission - to feed the hungry. How can you contribute to this mission?
Beginning Monday 5th August, the side gate access between the playground and Senior Learning Centre will not be opened before 3.30pm each day. All parents entering and all students leaving the school via the Napoleon St entry/exit will be directed to do so through the front gates opposite the Administration Office. This change has been implemented to further enhance our Child Safe protocol. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Also, we have many children bringing in personal sports equipment from home, soccer, basketballs and footballs alike. While, we do not wish to discourage physical activity, we have to comply with safety issues. Recently we were advised about some new OH&S guidelines when using ladders. This means that our maintenance person, Bailey will no longer be allowed to climb on the roofs to retrieve student’s sports equipment. If equipment is unfortunately lost to this space, it will remain there for long periods of time. Please, think twice before allowing your child to bring such items to school. We do have sports equipment for students to use at play times.
